ALL WESTERN COUNTRIES SIGNED OFF ON THE SAME AGREEMENT AT THE SAME TIME - THE USA, THE UK, AUSTRALIA, FRANCE, GERMANY, ETC. THEY ALL ALLOW REFUGEE CLAIMANTS TO ENTER AND HAVE THEIR CLAIMS HEARD.

I know how to read, I did manage to earn both an LLB & MBA......tell me something how are of these people are truly refugees, there is a process that they must go through in order to be recognized as such. Simply crossing the boarder because some dipshit of a PM wanted to one up the POTUS doesn’t make them refugees.

And as Bill Blair has admitted, hardly any of them have been deported. BTW, how does someone who’s been living in the US for 4-5 years qualify as a refugee as many of these people crossing over in Quebec and Manitoba? You certainly are not an immigration lawyer. So listen up good and cut the attitude.
If anyone reaches Canadian soil and claims refugee status, he can make a refugee claim and the Canadian government has to give him a hearing. That's what the UN Convention says and that's what Canadian governments have done since the 1950's. All other Western countries do it too. Because they are all signatories to the UN Convention.
If you were really a lawyer, you would know that the Harper administration played exactly the same rules. So did the Chretien government, the Mulroney government, the Daddy Trudeau government, etc back in time.
People who lived in the US, but who don't have permanent status there can make a refugee claim under the Convention when they reach Canada, unless they are precluded from doing so by a bilateral treaty between the US and Canada. There is such a treaty, but it is incomplete. It is worded so ineptly - by Harper and his idiots! - that it is only triggered if the claimant reports at a border point. If the claimant wanders into Canada through the woods or over the prairies, the treaty does not apply. Thank the Tories for that one!
So Mr Dressup and I are only telling you what the law mandates Canada does. Whether that is the wrong side of history (as you pretentiously tell us) or not.
And let me add that the # of refugees hitting Canada is but a small fraction of the # hitting Europe. So I think we're all safely on the "right side of history".
Now if you were really a lawyer, you'd know all this stuff without me writing it out for you.
