Uh oh...

Cannabis retailers warn of lingering supply shortage

I ordered from OCS about 45 minutes after going live. the strains i selected were sold out about 2 hours later. I'm still waiting for Canada Post to notify me of delivery.
very small selection now, compared to opening.

Has anyone received anything from OCS yet?

And people said legalization would not make people
consume more of it. Universities should prepare for a
50% decline of the IQ of students in a few year.

Nothing changes for me. Aurora is where I order mine and will continue to order mine.

Although my dealer aka Canada Post delivery person did say that they were warned on the influx. She will let me know how it goes when I see her next week.

A Giant list of the various cannabis strains available across Canada, their breeders, and where to find seeds.

Compiled by u/EffectiveAmbassador.

Formatted by u/terrencemckenna.

Clarifications on Quebec strains by u/xmsax.

Canadients may edit this subreddit with additional information they find and credit themselves.

This is one of those things got way bigger than I expected, but I'm pretty happy with this final list. There are plenty of uses for it like finding seeds for your home grow or finding your favourite old strain in the new system, and it gives a good idea of what history is coming with us to the next stage.

Thanks for the input from the community on this, and for the years and years of good times with 420 community. I can finally say I gave something back. Please notify me of any errors and I'll get them fixed

@b4u I need a bong/water pipe. Do you have a good one for starting you can recommend. Preferably online link to a reputable shop. I like a smooth hit and am not really interested in big hits. I am not interested in concentrates. The beaker bong on the OCS is about $50 and seems very straight forward and cheap. I was hoping for really good quality glass, and something that will be simple and let me control the hits and dont need to pack a lot but will provide smooth and cool smoke enough to make it a bit more pleasant.

I am thinking something like this one -> https://www.grasscity.com/int_en/bl...base-6-arm-perc-tube-complete-set-in-box.html
or this one -> https://www.grasscity.com/int_en/bl...g-9mm.html?refSrc=21304&nosto=product-related

BTW good work with this resource for weed stuff on here. Still waiting for your reviews on your OCS product experience.

EDIT: looks like grasscity is a major player for supplies in the industry. Also appears Black Leaf makes really good quality product. I went with the Black Leaf beaker bong above as a starter then can experiment with bubblers and others once I get an idea how this basic works. Posted in the event anyone else is wondering and just getting into this like me.

When it comes to glass bongs and stuff i'm just as much a newb as most here. I've been a joint smoker for so many years, never used pipes or bongs much, but with legalization i'm much more interested and am thinking of making a nice glass collection for my bud bar(currently 19 strains). it has now been 4 months since i have taken a flame to my weed.

I began vaping a few months ago. completely quit cigs and joints. it all started when i was watching The Vape Critic and Sneaky Pete on Youtube, it got me a little excited to try the "higher end" vapes so i started looking around T.O. to see who's selling the good stuff. First I found the Friendly Stranger on Queen St W and then I found Toronto Hemp Company(THC) at Yonge and Bloor.

Toronto Hemp Company has been around since 1994 selling anything and everything to do with Cannabis. 3 floors of goodies. lower level for growing. main level for pipes, papers and VAPES and the top floor for all things GLASS. Awesome store, good knowledgeable staff, very good pricing. Since summer I have purchased the following from THC......

First vape was the Storz and Bickel "Crafty" great vape with my only regret that i didn't go up one model to the "Mighty" Identical vaping experience but Mighty has much better battery

Next vape also from THC was the Arizer Extreme Q(Canadian company) This vape is great when you have company as you can fill balloons with vapor or use a whip to pass it around. lots of accessories and add ons available to really make it a versatile device.

So now I had a nice portable unit(Crafty) and desktop(extreme q) but I kept hearing about Dynavap on youtube and reddit
I picked up a Dynavap M 2018 I loved it so i went and picked up a Dynavap Omnivap
so now that i had a perfect personal device or two i wanted to use the dynavaps through a bong so I picked up a nice small glass piece and that has led me to Induction Heating for my Dynavaps and thats for another post ;)

Sorry for the long disjointed rambling post lol I been vaping :D I'm having a lot of fun with legalization.

strain reviews and more coherent posts forthcoming lol

PS the glass you picked up looks really nice. I love the thick glass. I highly recommend you visit Toronto Hemp Company it's a great store!

Vaping Marijuana Gets You Way, Way Higher Than Smoking It, Study Finds

Scientists have proved that inhaling vaporized marijuana will get you, like, way higher than smoking the exact same amount of weed.

The new research, led by scientists at the Johns Hopkins Behavioral Pharmacology Research Unit in Baltimore, tested the effects of smoked versus vaped marijuana on 17 participants who had smoked marijuana before, though not in the 30 days before the study's start (participants had smoked once in the last year, on average). Over the course of six 8.5-hour sessions, these participants got very, very high for science.

The study was funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, though one of the study's authors reported that he has previously received fees from, or consulted for, companies with ties to cannabis. [25 Odd Facts About Marijuana]

During each session, participants either smoked or vaped a dose of marijuana containing 0 milligrams, 10mg or 25mg of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) — the primary psychoactive component in cannabis. While each participant ended up both smoking and vaping all three possible doses over their six sessions, they were blind to how much THC they were consuming each time. The participants were kept in the dark in order to prevent bias while filling out a subsequent drug-impairment questionnaire — which, as every pot enthusiast knows, is the most fun thing you can do while super-high.

In addition to self-reporting how stoned they felt via questionnaire, participants were also subjected to a battery of physical and cognitive tests throughout the duration of each high. The stoners had their heart rates and blood pressures measured 10 times over 8 hours, and were asked to complete computerized tasks that involved replicating shapes on a screen, solving simple addition equations and responding to two different stimuli simultaneously with a mouse and a computer keyboard. Again: The apex of weed-enabled fun.

The results of these tests showed that, first of all, inhaling a 25mg dose of THC will get you really, really high, regardless of whether it was smoked or vaped. (After taking this dosage, two participants vomited, and another experienced hallucinations.) Likewise, for both smokers and vapers the majority of drug effects — including high heart rate, dry mouth, red eyes, paranoia and the munchies — peaked within the first hour after getting high, and sometimes did not return to baseline levels for more than 8 hours. (Often, these effects persisted for hours after the participants' blood THC concentration returned to normal.)

Overall, the effects of vaping proved much more potent at every dosage.

"Vaporized cannabis produced significantly greater subjective drug effects, cognitive and psychomotor impairment, and higher blood THC concentrations than the same doses of smoked cannabis," the researchers wrote in their study, published today (Nov. 30) in the journal JAMA Network Open.

At both the high and low doses, vaped weed resulted in significantly higher concentrations of THC in participants' blood than smoked weed. And the vapers made roughly twice as many mistakes on the cognitive tests and felt greater negative drug effects, including dry mouth, itchy eyes and paranoia, than the smokers did.

Simply put: Vaporized weed got people higher. And, according to the researchers, their doses weren't even that strong compared to what's commercially available.

"Notably, the highest dose of cannabis administered in this study (25mg of THC: 0.19 g; 13.4 percent THC) is substantially smaller and has a lower THC concentration than what is typically contained in pre-rolled cannabis cigarettes available for purchase in cannabis dispensaries, which commonly contain roughly 1.0 g of cannabis with THC concentrations often exceeding 18 percent," the study authors wrote.

With recreational weed now legal in nine American states and all throughout Canada, it's important to remember that even moderate amounts of THC can have significant impairing effects on casual consumers, and that not all methods of consuming cannabis are created equal.

You Should Probably Quit Your Job and Join The Weed Industry Now

New numbers from Statistics Canada shows cannabis workers are making more than the average Canadian.

It’s been just shy of two months since recreational cannabis became legal in Canada, but early data shows the sector is big, and the jobs pay relatively well.

According to a Statistics Canada labour report, the number of weed-related jobs in Canada was 10,400 in November, up 266 percent from November 2017. More than half of those jobs related to the agriculture industry, as well as educational services, health care, and retail, according to the report.

These jobs pay $29.58 an hour on average, compared to the national average of $27 an hour. The majority of the jobs (83 percent) are in the private sector, and the majority of employees (79 percent) are men.

The report also notes that Ontario has the highest concentration of jobs—5,700—because it has the highest concentration of licensed producers.

A Google revealed some of the cannabis jobs currently posted online (salaries provided where available):

Ontario Cannabis store: manager of financial controls and compliance
Spyder Cannabis: vice president corporate development, $60,000-$90,000
National Access Cannabis: retail project manager
Durham College: instructional designer, cannabis
Hiku Brands: head of content
BC Liquor Distribution Branch: quality assurance manager, $61,665.45 - $70,367.02 annually
TIPS Personnel: cannabis warehouse position, $15 an hour

There are going to be a lot of great jobs opening up in virtually every sector in the coming years.

Cannabis Air is the first luxury hotel of its kind in Canada.

Toronto is officially home to a 4/20 friendly luxury hotel. The hotel, called Cannabis Air, is the first of its kind in all of Canada. Cannabis Air is located right in the downtown core at 53 McCaul Street, short blocks away from Union Station, the Eaton Centre and Queen Street West. The hotel celebrated its official opening just last month.

Cannabis Air is also described as the first luxury hotel in the world to feature smoking lounges. Each one-bedroom suite is equipped with a private outdoor smoking lounge, and ensuite living room and kitchen.

Guests over 19 years old have access to 30 restaurant options and a 24-hour concierge service staffed by trained cannabis experts. Other enticing amenities at Cannabis Air include an outdoor swimming pool, a library, a gym and an entertainment room complete with pool and ping pong tables.

There are three suite options to choose from at Cannabis Air. First, there's The Pineapple Express, described as having one double bed, a cozy yet sleek design, and a private smoking lounge. It's a room that "spares no expense" for your comfort.

Next, there's The Ganjapreneur suite, a complete one bedroom apartment with a private smoking lounge. Finally, there's The Kush Queen, a luxury suite with two queen beds, a fully-stocked kitchen and smoking lounge.

OMG I am really excited about this. I was always thinking it would be so nice if I can just go to a place away from home and family and do this and especially now that its so fucking cold and the only place I can safely smoke is in my shed. I love that its a weed friendly place and don’t need to worry about any negative vibes. I will definitely be checking this place out. Thanks for info :thumb:

Each suite includes Wi-Fi, a TV, temperature controls, a bathtub and shower, kitchen amenities and of course, comfortable spots to relax and roll one up with sweeping views of the city. The hotel is also pet-friendly and parking is available onsite for an additional fee.
