The area around Mt. Sinai (Dundas and University specifically) is mostly quick service / fast food type places. There is a row of small restaurants on Baldwin between Beverly and McCaul, which is a short walk from Mt Sinai. It's been a while since I've been there so can't really comment on the quality.
There are lots of choices depending upon whether you want to impress with ambiance or with food. People have mentioned Baldwin, and that's good - better for dinner than lunch, IMO - there's a Japanese restaurant on the North side of Baldwin that's not bad and reasonable for lunch. Along Dundas there are a ton of choices. My suggestion would be to go Chinese. For high end - there's a good dim sum restaurant in the hotel on Chestnut behind City Hall - can't remember the name but maybe somebody else will. For great, legendary but cheap great food go to Yeuh Tung one street over on Elizabeth - awesome rice plate lunches for less than $8 with tea and a pop. Splurge and order several dishes - take the leftovers home. I've been going there since University and my mouth is watering as I type...I'm heading into the city in a few weeks for a lunch date with a young gal who works at Mount Sinai.
Any recommendations for a good place to eat near hospital row? Would like to make a good impression but not over the top. Thx
