Won't happen, the way the Leafs have started no team will give them a rash of futures...exept maybe the Edmonton Oilers. The Leafs don't have to match, they will get compensation (draft picks) from the other team that signs him.

Colorado would be a good fit.Won't happen, the way the Leafs have started no team will give them a rash of futures...exept maybe the Edmonton Oilers.
I stand corrected. That's what I thought. So back to my original question then.
Stay at home defenseman is outdated. What does that even mean? Don't pass your own blue line? Stand next to the goalie? Sometimes joining the rush or pinching to keep the puck in the offensive zone is the right play. Depends on the read. Hockey smarts.Trade him faster than his head can spin and put that money into a a strong stay at home defenseman
I agree. The days of Ken Daneyko are over. Today's NHL has evolved, the game has more skill and speed, all NHL defensemen have to skate and make the first good pass out of the zone.Stay at home defenseman is outdated. What does that even mean? Don't pass your own blue line? Stand next to the goalie? Sometimes joining the rush or pinching to keep the puck in the offensive zone is the right play. Think again. As the season wears on teams who lack scoring will need Nylander's services. Just as 30 other NHL teams will have needs to make the playoff push. Most teams wont be giving up a good D-men or prospect for him. Forwards are generally easier to find or replace than a good D-men. Nylander hasn't proven anything yet at this stage. He ain't even worth near $5M either. More like $4M at most short term.
I understand that if he's not signed by Dec 1 he is not eligible to play in the NHL. Period. If the rumour is true,Nylander's father is driving a hard bargain here not Nylander, the son. If Nylander young career screw up in the near future,Nylander should blame everything on his father.Think again. As the season wears on teams who lack scoring will need Nylander's services. Just as 30 other NHL teams will have needs to make the playoff push.
Finding out a list teams he would like to play for.Kyle Dubas has flown to Sweden today to speak with the Nylander camp.
Screw that!Finding out a list teams he would like to play for.
True. But the reasonable speculation can be believed to a degree. We've been hearing a lot of speculations, from Nylander wanting 8 mil to Leafs offering under 5, from Nylander worrying about getting traded to the Leafs wanting to trade him for d help, etc. etc. None of these are confirmed or denied and all the talking heads in media, radio and fans are purely SPECULATING.
While it's fun for us fans to discuss things like what he's worth in an extension, trade value, what the Leafs should do with him, etc., I don't think it's fair for fans to take sides or bash the team or Nylander, because we just DON'T KNOW IF ANY OF THESE SPECULATIONS IS TRUE. We're entitled to think what he's worth but it's within Nylader's right to negotiate for the best deal he can get. If you were in his shoes you'd be doing the same thing too.
I would love that.I can see Nylander ending up in Carolina with Justin Faulk coming back in return. Or possibly Anaheim who are stocked with D men.
Dubas likely to go with someone slightly younger, with upside like Brett Pesce, he only makes $4mil per year. May even get a pick in return too.I can see Nylander ending up in Carolina with Justin Faulk coming back in return. Or possibly Anaheim who are stocked with D men.
