Hello Gentlemen,

It's Asian Nicole. Ghent is a port city in northwest Belgium, at the confluence of the Leie and Scheldt rivers. During the Middle Ages it was a prominent city-state. Today it’s a university town and cultural hub. Its pedestrianized center is known for medieval architecture such as 12th-century Gravensteen castle and the Graslei, a row of guildhalls beside the Leie river harbor.

When I was in Brussels, I took a day tour to visit Ghent. I was so glad that I did. Ghent is a must see little city. Cars cannot enter the main center, it’s a walking city. I was surprised to see how well preserved the original buildings are in Ghent. A walk through the river takes you to the castle and you can actually stop by cafes or ice creams parlours on the way to enjoy even more the experience. Very worth a visit if you are going from Brussels to Ghent.

Hello Gentlemen,

When I was in Ghent, the ten-day-long Ghent Festival was hosting there. I saw the venues for all different events. It is held every year in July and attended by about 1–1.5 million visitors.

During the festival, the city centre is transformed into one giant festival: the Ghent Jazz Festival and the Festival of Flanders earned Ghent the title of UNESCO Creative City of Music. In October, film lovers and stars flock to the Ghent Film Festival.

Hello Gentlemen,

Graslei (English: Grass Quay) is a quay in the historic city center of Ghent, Belgium, located on the right bank of the Leie river. The quay opposite of the Graslei is called Korenlei. Both quays were part of the medieval port and are now a cultural and touristic hotspot of the city, with a high concentration of café patios. The site, with its unique row of historical buildings, is a protected cityscape.

Hello Gentlemen,

In the city center’s Burg square, the 14th-century City Hall has an ornate carved ceiling. Nearby, Markt square features a 13th-century belfry with a 47-bell carillon and 83m tower with panoramic views.

Along with a few other canal-based northern cities, such as Amsterdam, Bruges is sometimes referred to as the Venice of the North. Bruges has a significant economic importance, thanks to its port, and was once one of the world's chief commercial cities. Bruges is well known as the seat of the College of Europe, a university institute for European studies.

Hello Gentlemen,

Bruges has atmosphere- many houses over 400 years old and cobbled streets. It is a charming old city, the inner city is easily accessible on foot. It has many attractions such as the Onze Lieve Vrouw Cathedral, canal tours, lace making demonstrations and of course the chocolate museum and the many chocolate shops.

One of the most beautiful places I have ever been to...Breath-taking!! What more you could ask for? I highly recommended Bruges if you travel to Belgium.

Hello Gentlemen,

The Basilica of the Holy Blood (Dutch: Heilig-Bloedbasiliek) is a Roman Catholic basilica in Bruges, Belgium. The church houses a venerated relic of the Holy Blood allegedly collected by Joseph of Arimathea and brought from the Holy Land by Thierry of Alsace, Count of Flanders. Built between 1134 and 1157 as the chapel of the Count of Flanders, it was promoted to a minor basilica in 1923.

The basilica in Burg square consists of a lower and upper chapel. The lower chapel, dedicated to St. Basil the Great, is a dark Romanesque structure that remains virtually unchanged. The venerated relic is in the upper chapel, which was rebuilt in the Gothic style in the 16th century and renovated in the 19th century in Gothic Revival style.
