Tom Hardy saves Sony from their own stupidity.

I saw the film, the writing and the editing was awful. Tom Hardy made something from nothing, the relationship between Eddie and Venom worked. The film needed $54 million for a chance to break even, it grossed $80 million. Next the much beloved Woody Harrelson comes on board as Carnage, Sony should get out of the fuckin way!

On a side note, I notice that Reid Scott is in this film. Imho honest opinion Armando Antonucci's The Death of Stalin is the best film of 2018 (so far). So I started watching his show Veep. Julia Louis Dreyfus still annoys me but Reid Scott is excellent as the handsome but neurotic Don Egan.

There is a great deal of discussion as to who should replace Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Imho opinion there is only one choice: Rory Kinnear. Anyone else and it will be a letdown. His friends Daniel Craig, Tom Hardy and Benedict Cumberbatch would all lobby on his behalf.

And he just kicked Ryan Gosling's ass at the box-office. Revenge for Gosling ignoring Hardy's role in Nicolas Winding Refn's career during the TIFF premiere of Drive.

First Man was praised to the skies at TIFF but I didn't buy it. Gosling is a good actor in certain roles, should have gotten nominated for Blue Valentine, but he's miscast as Neil Armstrong. A commanding figure was needed to portray the astronaut, Gosling doesn't have The Right Stuff. It's like William Wyler casting Frankie Avalon as Ben Hur.

Not sure why Hardy would agree to partake with such a mediocre script, my guess is he took the money to get Season 2 of Taboo made. The $142 million domestic gross puts Venom safely in the black.

And his fishing buddy gives him a gift at the Rome premiere.
