I use firefox or Brave browser. Chrome tracks you and sells your data. Brave broswer doesn't. Firefox is a little better too. Also don't use google search if don't like them tracking you, use duckduckgo.com. For email I use protonmail. For youtube, facebook, Instagram and google maps I use chrome but for everything else that requires privacy (like online banking or terb or private emails) I use firefox and Brave and protonmail with VPN. Instead of googlemaps you can use waze.

Use proton mail when sending emails to escorts and escort agencies. There was a post about google allowing companies to read your emails.

It's too late for me because last month, I bought my first Chromebook. Now they have absolutely everything on me. Only reason I friggin' bought a Chromebook was because I was sick of getting unwanted viruses from porn sites and streaming links for sports on reddit. Supposedly, Chromebooks are not suppose to get viruses.

You can never be completely %100 percent private but there are tools out there that can give back some privacy. The only ways is to completely go off the grid.

No machine is ever %100 virus free. They sell you the false sense of security. Any top notch skilled hacker can hack your chromebook if he/she wanted to added that if your a DFU and doesn't use any common sense.

Use the ad blocker called "ublock", it blocks ads. I love it when I visit sportsnet.ca (owned by Rogers), it blocks all the ads, on the site it says "Foul Ball" or "Highsticking" and says ads help keep this website running, the people at sportsnet work hard and rely on ads, please stop using ad blocker and whitelist sportsnet.ca. Fuck you Rogers! LOL!

I wouldn't trust apps. Never do online banking over wifi.
Online banking apps are encrypted and authenticated end-to-end as specified by VISA and PCI-DSS. The standard is very tight, requires regular testing and independent auditing. That said, confidential information seems to be getting leaked on a monthly basis these days - as someone who works in that industry and sees it, the reason is almost always because money issues (i.e. Sears), overworked IT staff or clued-out management allowing a vulnerability to open and not be detected and fixed. CDN banks in my experience are very, very good at staying secured and take protection of confidential data very seriously. It's the retailers you have to be careful of.

As long as you are using the proper banking site and authentication occurs, you are safe. Obviously the key is to make damn sure you are using the proper banking site and not a spoofed / phished site. Therefore it's best to either bookmark the site on your computer or manually type in the URL. Googling it, or responding to an EMail could result in a spoofed site.

I agree. Google has done some pretty amazing things with technology and provided us with great free apps. But, they mine the hell out of your data and sell the results to everyone (although they claim it not identifying). And some of those cool features (i.e. linking your google account to your android phone) can result in you being terribly compromised (i.e. your wife somehow gets access to your email account and looks at the location tracking feature and sees you spent an hour at a MP location).

I even turn geolocation off on my camera phone.
