Brewers advance in dominating fashion. Mind you, the next round is a whole new ball game (so to speak).

OK... this is shaping up to be a great ALCS. Better than what I think the WS will be like.

Two strong teams. Both appear to have heated up over their past 10 to 15 games. Both have momentum. Both have good managers. A bunch of exciting hitters on both sides. A rematch of the 20017 ALDS...

I predicted Red Sox over Astros 3 weeks ago, but I am not so sure anymore. I still think Osuna is the best closer in the business. The Red Sox bullpen has performed better than anticipated. Kimbrell is vulnerable. Price is a mystery. The odds makers have picked the Astros to repeat...

Astros and Brewers? Red Sox and Dodgers? Imagine, if you will, Osuna closing out the WS?

This is when I get excited over baseball! I don't care who wins. I am going to enjoy whatever happens... one of the benefits of not having a dog in this fight! :thumb:

Kimbrel was close to total implosion last night. If Sanchez got a little more of that long fly or that final out wasn't made at 1st, we'd be looking at Game 5 back at the Fen - and who knows?? Maybe the Fat Man woke up a little bit, decided that he was going to help his beloved Yankees beat up on his hated Sox 1 more time, but then got sleepy and drifted back to sleep without finishing the job!

Great first game Dodgers Brewers went over 4 hours all kinds of pitchers. Kershaw didn't do well.

ALCS has Joe (oh no) West and Vic Carapazza (aka Vic Crapazza) umpiring...how the hell can that happen - watch the bad calls

I had not followed the Brewers very closely during the season...

They seem a much better, stronger team than I had anticipated. They could easily be up 3-0 against the Dodgers... but I will wait for the Fat Lady!

They are in a do or die situation and that first batter homerun doesn't help.

Mind you, the pitcher was probably too busy eyeing those man-made jugs in the purple shirt behind the plate.

Whoever wins tonight, hope they beat the wheels off of boston.
Why ...they're part of our league? LOL I thought we're supposed to hate the Yankees.

The games have been really good. I think the brewers are going to take it tonight.

Boston has been playing some good ball lately. All facets of their game. If Price has got the monkey off of his back, that is a game changer.

I thought Houston was going to beat them with their pitching staff, especially with Verlander and Cole as a 1 - 2 punch.

Would be nice to see the Brewers get there. Last time they were this deep was in 1982.

And by lately you mean since opening day.

I hate 'em, but they have been a juggernaut all year.

LOL!

Won the World Series in 2013, then had two consecutive 5th place finishes and have had 3 first place finishes since.

Talk about a quick rebuild!

The Jays have as big (if not a bigger) market than the Red Sox and can pay similar money. It all comes down to the management and scouting.

Obviously shapeero, unlike Boston's model, likes to operate a big market like it is a small market. They are trying to get the payroll to under $100M. The team should be even worse next year and they don't expect to be competitive until 2021. It looks like it will take him 4 years just to tear the team down and only 2 years after that to be competitive. I'd think that it would take longer to build up than tear down.

I've always had a soft spot for "The Boys of Summer". Glad to see them back in the WS again. That Taylor catch is one for the ages. The lack of a designated hitter in Dodger Stadium games will hurt the Red Sox more than the Dodgers.

I think that holds true every WS.

They can't pay similar money. The Red Sox have private owners who don't care about losing a bit of money. More of a hobby for them. The Jays are owned by a company that is owned by shareholders. It's all about money.

They can pay whatever they want. A winning team generates revenue.

They are saving money by reducing payroll and losing 900,000 fan$$$. Does that make the shareholders happy? Save $40M in payroll and lose $100M in revenue:confused:

Yeah and they spend that kind of money and the team is a bust? San Fran had the second highest payroll in baseball this and they sucked ass. The Nationals had the 5th highest and ended up 2 games over .500 missing the playoffs.

More teams that had a payroll middle of the pack or lower made the playoffs then teams with higher payrolls.

At the risk of repeating myself, if they at least make some signings they maintain fan interest (or not lose as much of it), and get better attendance and viewership. They would also show the fans that they care about giving us some value for our entertainment dollar (aren't they raising prices?). Right now, management is reviled in the city. They need to do some PR work.

I am not sure why you keep giving Rogers a pass. They have to be one of the richest owners in the league. I looked it up. Rogers is worth over $30B, revenues of $14B and profits of around $1.5B annually. The richest owner in MLB is in Frisco. He is worth $6B. Steinbrenner is worth over $3B and the Boston owner about $2.5B.

Your argument makes no sense at all. The Jays have incredibly deep pockets and the WHOLE country is their market. They should run roughshod over the other teams with their financial resources. And as far as the shareholders, I believe that they were much happier when AA spent money, the team was good and the stadium was packed like it was 1992 and people couldn't wait for the telecasts to begin.

So please, give up this narrative of yours that Rogers can't spend money. It is hogwash. They might not want to, but they sure as hell can. Not doing so means that they don't give a shit about the fans and hopefully, if they maintain this approach, they will lose a few hundred thousand more in attendance and decreased viewership. Shareholders, indeed.
