If you saw the interview with Butler last night, you probably don't want him, as good as he is he will poison the locker room.
You're wrong, I want Butler with the Raptors. He has a Mark Messier mentality, invaluable in a league with powder puff prima donnas. I hope Kahwi watched the third Q, it will be good for him.

IV we have a difference of opinion. I remember Messier as a leader, I see Butler as a disruptor! Hope he ends up in Sacramento

It's like this Dawgger, I'm a homer. I couldn't care less about the playoffs if Toronto teams are not involved. Haven't watched the MLB playoffs and wont watch the MLS either.

And almost all the participants on this thread know more about basketball than I do. Jimmy Butler has fire in his belly, he would thrive in Toronto...and probably get us to the NBA Final. On Tim and Sid, they did a poll and 88% of voters think this team is better than last years team. I wouldn't have believed that until I streamed the 2014 NBA Final. If that's the Kawhi were getting people will forget about Demar.

My expertise is in hockey and football (soccer) - although some may argue about the former.

IV no problems with me we are both entitled to our opinion and currently they differ. I think Butler is an awesome player but he comes with baggage. In Chicago and now in Minnesota it's "The Jimmy Show"! Chicago won squat and so has Minnesota with him on the team.

The more I watch this team the more I like it, and it has NOT jelled yet! Barring injuries this team will get better as the year progresses!

My concern now is KLo. I have always liked him but did not like the shit show against the Nets. Need him to play and work with KL and Danny G. I don't know if this team is better than last year(59 W is damn good!) but they will compete. The test this year will be how far can they go in the play offs! no James eliminates that excuse!
IV there is nothing wrong with stating your feelings and beliefs, keep them coming, that is what makes this forum interesting!

IV, stick to football.. just kidding, man! Understand all those who see the skills and fire in a Jimmy B but the Disruptor, as good as he is, will be an annoyance for the next year as he heads into free agency. And since we already have one of those in that category, two would be downright suicide. Looking at it as glass half full, if somehow the jelling dawg anticipates doesn't happen trading these two at trade deadline will bring back way less than whatever we would have spent to get them. At least the Kawhi trade didn't hurt us that much talent wise (Poeltl will be solid NBAer and DD will still be an Allstar) as we got an elite talent for good talent and Danny is a pro. For Butler, we would lose talent for sure (OG or Siakam) that may be as talented as Butler in the long run. Yes, Kawhi's quiet but generally he's still a team man. JButts, on the other hand, with the Bulls and Wolves has been a very vocal aggressor to teammates and team. Not sure who he'll fit in with but I'd rather have another group deal with that. This Rap group is still a work in progress but this fifteen has a lot of mojo going for it and can have a great chance to be a true contender. Yes JButts would be an addition talent wise but from a team dynamic this is not the group for him. But if we can get him for near nothing go for it! :very_drunk:

We'll know soon enuff beginning Wednesday what this current group is made of. My glass half full says this team fills me with optimism and excitement to se what they can do. I expect some real good things from this fifteen as we start. There's generational talent (Kawhi) for the first time (some say since Carter, I say for the first time!), all star supporting cast, strong bench, offensive oriented coach and still the best arena in the league. So, bring it on and let the ball bounce where it may! Let's go Raptors!!

imho, I hope you are dead on NW! Development of him and OG will dictate the level we can reach. Those levels though, will be always dependant on one guy and how he'll perform this year. Good in depth read on pre season view of Kawhi :

Wednesday night, three days till the puzzle starts getting unwrapped. Can't wait to see what this first three in four days does to and for this group. Come a week today I'm pretty sure we will have a good take on what's to come what with the Cavc, Celts and Wiz to start. Regardless, pumped to be headed into the most promising season in Rap history :peace:

Wednesday night, beer and basketball, I am ready! The addition of Leonard Green and Munroe, the depth of the bench, I am pumped! IMO, on paper best Raptor team ever, just have to remember the game is played on hardwood! Don't envy Nurse, everyone is ready and expecting big things, 59 Ws last year, and this team is expected to top that by the faithful.

Lets go RAPTORS!

...Jimmy Butler has fire in his belly...
True but the issue is he is incapable of working with people who don't show their fire in the same way. He works his ass off to get better and he expects others to do the same but his views is there is no middle ground and he makes clear his feelings. If he developed a more positive way to encourage people to work to his level he's be a plus but his current way seems to be just to shit all over people.

Inside the NBA, sweeps the floor with Hockey Central, they don't have a moron like Doug McLean on their dais.

....Best day of the year with all the anticipation, the excitement, the not knowing what's in store, the beauty of discovery, the joy and feeling when you know what's about to happen is ......... LEGAL...#CannabisLegalization....
and all on the same day as the Raps open their accounting for 18/19.

10/17 the dawn of two for the ages ; experiences that may blow your mind or knock you out, give you joy or angst and possibly induce paranoia!!! Let's go Raptors......:peace:

Wonder if (legal weed) makes Toronto more attractive to NBA players.

Great game tonight. Kawhi looks good I think he's the real deal. Even if we get him for only one season it will be a good playoff run.

Kyle looked good tonight. Great shooting percentage.

Should be a fun season.

not a bad game. this team is now more built for a playoff run with a shorter bench. Ibaka has to either step up or stop shooting so much. We can get pretty consistent shooting from Leonard, Lowry, Green, Valunciunas, Siakam, OG, and Van Vleet.

I love having Siakam give that open floor threat. Either on a break out or simply pushing the ball against a slower defender.

Looks like Delon Wright getting injured just as his contract negotiations died out was bad luck. And I'm still waiting to see if CJ Miles can contribute on a regular basis. I'm on the fence with that guy. He can win us over if he starts shooting lights out.

If our bench is a deep as everyone says it is, then maybe we still have room for a significant trade to bolster our roster to go up against Boston and Golden State?

nice start....got the W!!! Leonard was pretty much as advertised and will get better. Lowry was there to Win last night.
Still did not see that killer instinct (NUT CRUSHER)! Had the 20 point lead and it got down to single digits way too quick.
Miles did nothing, hit 1 three in ten minutes and couldn't defend squat! Ibaka was inconsistent, 27 min. 2/10, 3 blocks 6PF. can block at the rim but a lousy one on one defender. Team needs time and will improve. They need to find out who plays well with who.
Boston next, should be another good one, and it should give everyone a better idea as where the Raps stand in the East.

CJ Miles may have succumbed to the dreaded GoDaddy curse. Norman Powell did the ads for them last year and had a brutal season, now CJ is doing the ads (CJ's PJs) and has started the season with a clunker.

curse be damned...CJ sucked last year too! Powell looked like he may be a piece last night, at least an improvement over last year.

JV was the first to get taken in by them with his Itty Bitty Ballers, the Raps were considering trading him that year. Good game, I can imagine how good they will be once they're in game shape. Nice block by Nav Bhatia to stop Lowry from colliding with the chair, saved a game injury from a bad back.

Will Shaq and Chuck be here for the Celtics? Paul Pierce ate a Thai chili, big difference.

Should be a fun season.
Drug testing still to WADA parameters so no THC allowed. Still watching the Raps while LEGALLY :rapture:blitzed is way better than hiding in the closet!!! Ergo fun season for sure...

.... killer instinct (NUT CRUSHER)!.
D, pass the munchies and cut our Raps some slack, man, it's game one! Even IV, who doesn't ball much, knows to be patient. ...

Good game, I can imagine how good they will be once they're in game shape.
.....and all curses went UP IN SMOKE... :bump:yesterday anyways..... Game one done, 1-0, bring on those Celts for the first statement game cette jeune saison ( in recognition du province avec the cheapest weed in the land ) let's go Raps!
