5 years/$189 mill in Toronto; 4 years/$141 mill elsewhere
Kawai is a different character though. He's not motivated by money. He forfeited more than $30 million by not signing a max contract with the Spurs. Theoretically, he could have signed that contract (with the condition of vetoing any trade) and been traded for a lot more than the Spurs received.

Question: Is he durable enough to last 5 years? Sorry, I had to ask.
Good question and a very valid point.
We saw what he has done for the Raptors playing in about 75% of the regular season games so if you are an owner/GM with a desire to win, figuring he wants to play for your team and you can and will limit his regular season playing time, I guess it is worth the risk.

I agree gfelover, this city suits Kawhi.

However, if the Clippers swing a trade for JV, Kawhi is one and done.

If the Raps managed to win tonight, the series is over in 6. It seemed the Raps have figured it out how to beat the Deer in game 4. Ask Kawhi to play defence vs Giannis and both of them will be neutralized from the outcome of the game. The supporting casts of both teams will decide the series, imho.
I take Lowry over Bledso anyday. Same with Gasol vs Lopez. Siakam didn't have a good game last time so I expect him to fly tonight. And, maybe the Bucks have no one good enough to guard Norm, either.

NBA TV contract is $2.6 Billion/year. NHL TV contract is less than $500K/year. Durability is always a crapshoot.
The NHL Canadian rights TV deal is $5.2Bb over 12 years.
The NHL U.S.A. rights TV deal is $2Bb over 10 years.

Mathematics wasn't my best subject in school, but I'm pretty sure that's more than $500K/year.

The bench is contagious. First, Powell has turned his game around in the series. Then,Ibaka and ofcourse...VanFleet!!!!!!
Now, if we can get Green going just for one game tomorrow game 5 we will have a complete team. But,wait OG is also back for the Finals!!!!!

That Kawhi is amazing! (No wonder Lebron left the Eastern Conference.) 100% effort 100% of the time. Unlike some of the Leafs he doesn't go MIA when the going gets tough.

I hear that several Toronto restaurants have said they'll feed Kawhi for free if he stays with the Raptors.

Also a condo developer offered a penthouse suite for Kawhi to use for free on a similar basis.

Just a thought:

As a further incentive why don't the top spas in Toronto, such as Premier and Flirt, offer him unlimited free room fees if he stays?

Kawhi is a fun guy, he said it himself.

I'm skeptical, I can't picture him as Munenori Kawasaki.
