Ray Donovan returns!

Currently there are no cooler actors than Viggo Mortensen and Liev Schreiber. While Viggo plays Tony Lip, it's time for Ray Donovan to return.

And he's bringing Susan Sarandon's sexy daughter with him - the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Also Domenic Lombardozzi from The Wire, the cop who saves him.

He's back but I hope they don't kill off Mickey. So many times he had me in tears of laughter.

Beauty and the beast, we have Eva Amurri and Hulk Herc on board.

S5 ended in a cliffhanger with the heartbroken Ray apparently committing suicide. He appeared to change his mind in mid plunge, he hit the water feet first. Had he dived in he would have snapped his neck. How were they going to resolve this, bring in Hulk Herc to save his life - PERFECT.

Streamed S6 E1, of Ray Donovan (imho the best show curretly running). Once Hulk Herc took out the hockey stick, I knew this was going to be good!

Liev Schreiber is super cool.

He spoke fluent french at the Montreal premiere of Goon. Too bad his trainer wasn't there for the festivities: Wade Belak.

Well here's a WTF moment. I was so certain that S6 was a mother daughter show (Susan Sarandon, Eva Amurri) that I didn't even bother to verify it.

Well it's not Eva Amurri, the actress playing Mayoral candidate Anita Novak is named Lola Glaudini...could have fooled me.

I can finally watch the first 3 seasons of Ray Donovan. I watched RD's "Soprano's moment". S1 E11 of The Sopranos broke the glass ceiling for production quality and made the show the massive money maker, for HBO, that it became. Likewise S1 E11, gave Ray Donovan legs. Without spoilers Mickey lost his place and the Donovan brothers pledged their loyalty to Ray.

Mickey Donovan is skilled in two areas: robbing banks and fucking black chicks. He's also a major fuck up devoted to his piss jah.

The pov of the Irish, as opposed to the Italian, attitude to Catholicism is fascinating. Italians have known about the Catholic Church's pedo culture for centuries, they treat it with disdainful indifference. The Inquisition stopped torturing and burning heretics but the practice of kidnapping children continued unabated until it was abolished with Italian unification. To the Irish Catholic Church was a source of comfort and moral support while the English were killing their people and tearing their land apart. Although abolished in England since the mid 18th Century; hanging, drawing and quartering was still implemented in Iraland until the onset of The Potato Famine. Catholic pedo culture is a body blow to the Irish.

Ray Donovan is as good as The Sopranos. The difference is how they view the church. In Ray Donovan, Catholicism is central to the story for the first 4 Seasons. In The Sopranos it's a minor side story.

Another comparison between Ray Donovan and The Sopranos features Bridget Donovan II vs Meadow Soprano.

I found the character of Bridget Donovan II fascinating and seductive in a disturbing way. She's been from the beginning a sexualized being bordering on sociopathy. A fully formed character not above causing mayhem. Her obsession with her math teacher nearly gets him killed, then she runs away from home because she feels suffocated. It would have been easy to write her off as selfish in her neurosis and yet her compassionate care for her her dying mother Abby was the highlight of S5. I looked up the actor who plays her and got a shock. Karris Dorsey turns 21 in January. Oh by did I feel dirty! Her skill set goes far beyond her young age.

By contrast Meadow Soprano never gets beyond the spoiled, indecisive Mafia princess. Even when she decides to pursue social activism it goes nowhere. In the end she settles into a relationship within the outfit and can't parallel park. For a character that had potential it's a very weak send off. David Chase didn't know what to do with the character.

Showtime has picked up Ray Donovan for at least another season, possibly more. Ray is currently in a big pickle! I wonder if Chance Kelly comes ridin in a whompin and a stompin everything within an inch of it's life...cept the wimmun folks of course.

I was disapointed that it wasn't Eva Amuri as Anita Novak. The FBI babe who suckers in Adrianna in The Sopranos got the role.

Chance Kelly is the only one to score a knockout on Ray, to be fair Ray wasn't ready for it. He was also in The Sopranos, briefly, puttin the cuffs on Puss.
