This is what Matthews looks like when he plays with intent. Leafs looked good but Buffalo is a terrible team. Saw the highlights of the Wash TB game. Defending Stanley Cup champs vs the best team this year.
Very feisty and some great plays.

Nice to see a good start last night with lot's of energy, but 7-5 still raises a lot of red flags.

Anderson has hit a slump going into the playoffs, and this team has no defence or grit. First or second round bounce out this year, and hopefully they can fix grit and defence factor. Problem is, in today's NHL, most GM's don't care about grit.

Scoring 7 goals seems impressive - but Florida appears to only have a remote familiarity with the concept of team defense. By hey - I am a life long Habs fan so what do I know about hockey right? (especially if the Panthers beat Montreal tonight - which I don't think they will unless Barkov has another insane game like the last time they played)

I really don't see the Leaf's having the overall game to get past the Bruins although I do think it will be a 6 or 7 game series.

or second round? If they beat Boston the season can be considered a huge success. You do know TB will be there waiting in round 2.

Time to rest Freddy. He's running on empty. No gas in the tank. Leafs are only 4pts away from clinching.

Rosen will need some time to adjust to the bigs. Has to learn to play with no panic. Gauthier had the big panic trigger when he 1st started

keep your day job. you'll never make it as a comic.
A funny man doesn't have to announce he just made a joke.
A funny man doesn't have to laugh at his own joke. To let those unknowing that he just made a joke.
A funny man never has to apologize for making a joke.
A funny man does not acknowledge openly the joke was bad.
If there was any humour at all to start with you've killed it.
And killing it not in a good way.

It's the nature of Leafs fans to bitter and nervous at this time of year. Bruin fans are feeling good and cocky. Kidding aside the Leafs could use Gardiner and Dermott back. I'll remain positive that the Leafs will surpise Boston as many (Bruin fans) are calling Boston in 3 games (saying game 4 is just formality for Boston).

Big game tonight (playoff implications) were the Leafs don't play. Montreal vs Columbus, the Leafs magic number will come down to 1 pt, no matter who wins. If it goes to OT, the Leafs magic number will be 2 pts. Setting up for a clinching senario on Saturday vs Ottawa.

So I came across an idea to end tie hockey games without the dreaded shootout skills compitetion. After the 5 min OT, have have powerplay to win. There will be a coin flip, the team that wins the coin flip, decides if they want the 2min powerplay, if they score they win, if they don't score they lose. If penalty killing team scores shorthanded, they win.

Who cares about magic number. They can lose every game and still most likely make playoffs. These games now are meaningless.

Not only that a lock to be playing Boston

Can I assume this ridiculous idea was cooked up by TSN journalists because of the John Tavares fiasco last night?

Not only that, I think there was a 21 round shootout at one time that went to almost 11pm. It will be tested in the AHL first before anything is implimented in the NHL.

So time to rest Freddy or is it time for tune up for the playoffs. I'm a believer that nothing's written in stone until the games are played.
