Lovetoes13:

Are you planning to host and party at your place too, or is that simply a place to crash at night?

If you're hosting and need some luxury and space with nice bathrooms/tubs, etc, I like two hotels.

I think a suite at Loews Hotel Vogue is a nice spot. There's bar downstairs with decent food, it's a short walk from the hustle and bustle and the rooms are big.

Hotel Le Crystal has big rooms. Man of their rooms have the bedroom separate from the living space which I always find is kind of awesome for setting the mood because you can socialize and drink, fool around and then head to a dimly lit bedroom.

Loews is a really really short walk to Club Wanda's which is my go to spot in Montreal to see dancing.

If you want something more upscale, my go to hotel in Montreal is Novotel on Mountain St.

It's in the middle of everything. To the south you have the Molson center, crossing Rue Sherbrooke you have some of the best restaurants in the city. Crescent St is two blocks west and Rueben's Deli is at the corner of Sherbrooke and Peel. Turn right at Sherbrooke.

It's as good as Schwartz with less of a line up. If Maestro's is still around on Rue St Laurent go there. You haven't lived until your had the planked Arctic Char.

Omni Mont Royal on Sherbrooke Street is where I usually stay downtown. Next time I go looking at the Renaissance if the price is right.

When you say Sherbrooke, is it possible you meant to say Ste. Catherine?

You're partially right, Sherbrooke St is too far north, I meant Rue Maissoneuve to get to the good restaurants. Ouch, one of those great restaurants Lo Stivale D'Oro has closed.

I haven't been to Montreal since 2011.

IIRC, Reubens is on Ste. Cat's.

Novotel, Sofitel, Best Western Europa, Hotel Espresso. All in close proximity to the Ste-Catherine corridor. Omni Mont Royal, Sheraton, Best Western Ville-Marie and others are located further north along Sherbrooke. Loews Vogue and Le St-Martin are boutique hotels located in the downtown core between Ste-Catherine and Sherbrooke.

What is the "Cheese Grater" called now? For the young ones that's the hotel with the distinctive round windows adjacent to the hockey arena (which also changes names).

That hotel used to be out-call central back in the day. SPs would hang in the bar between bookings because so many bookings were there. Good times.

Red House over yonder.
I also like Loews Vogue for proximity to Crescent St and because it has oversize jacuzzi tubs. The room that is one grade up from the standard room has the best mirror wall setup of any suite the Prez has seen. The combo of the mirror wall and the foot of the bed couch setup is perfect for those Beauty and the Beast visuals. I also concur about the nice bar.

Hotel Le Crystal is best if you want a kitchenette like a condo style suite. Also close enough to Crescent St. Those outdoor tables are great in the summer for people watching.

Bistro au JoJo is a great place for live blues music. It is a short cab ride. Crescent St is a good party street for the Anglos and and Rue St Dennis where Jojo's is located is a good French area for music and outdoor tables. Carlos and Pepe's on Peel St is a very good Mexican restaurant with a talented bartender.
