Toronto Councillor Giorgio Mammoliti: No One’s Going to Vote for a ‘Good Looking Lady’ as Mayor

Mammoliti tells Rebel Media that Jennifer Keesmaat is ‘good looking’, but that’s not good enough to be Mayor of Toronto

August 12, 2018

Toronto Councillor Giorgio Mammoliti thinks the only thing mayoral candidate Jennifer Keesmaat has going for her is that she’s a “good looking lady.”

Mammoiliti made an in-studio appearance on Ezra Levant’s far-right Rebel Media Friday night and shared some locker room talk about Keesmaat – Toronto’s former Chief Planner and the top challenger facing off against incumbent Mayor John Tory in October’s municipal election.

Asked by Rebel host David Menzies what he thinks about Keesmaat’s chances, the “loyal” ally of Ontario Premier Doug Ford shared an unprompted rant about why Toronto is “not going to vote for people that are good looking.”

After using her last name to liken Keesmaat to a floor mat, Mammoliti stressed he needs to be “really clear that a guy like me is not going to be supporting a very left-leaning individual.”

“Good looking lady, for sure,” Mammoliti conceded.

“And Tory’s a good looking man. But at the end of the day, we’re not going to vote for people that are good looking, are we?”

“I’m glad that in the ‘Me Too’ era you’re not playing any favourites,” Menzies added.

Although Mammoliti dismisses her as a “good looking lady,” Keesmaat does bring decades of experience as an award-winning urban planner to her mayoral candidacy, working on projects around the world and overseeing a dozen master planning initiatives in Canadian cities, including Toronto, Vancouver and Halifax.

Between 2012 and 2017, Keesmaat served as Chief Planner for the City of Toronto, a position that provides expert planning advice to City Council on policies relating to land use, environmental sustainability, community development, urban design and transportation.

Mammoliti’s appearance on Rebel Media comes nearly one year after the far-right website suffered a meltdown after mingling with the alt-right at last summer’s deadly white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Rebel Media’s David Menzies more recently co-hosted a podcast with a man charged with hate crimes following a police investigation into incidents targeting Muslims, including young school children.

That's reason enough NOT to vote for her.

Her reports were reasonable.
Its only the lying Fords that hid them and lied about them that got us into the present mess.

She advocated for tearing down the Gardiner without a proper plan. That's terrible city planning. She should have been fired just for that.

Hey we elected a Mayor who advocated a subway tunnel to Scarborough without a proper plan. We still don't have a plan for that yet and that's with a whole new Mayor! A good one! How could she be worse?

In fact the folks who research, study, cost and plan such things have been saying 'tear it down, save money and get a better City' since 2010 or so, long before she was hired.

Either ill informed, dense or willfully false. Take ur pick because either and/or all define your comment.

Keesmat and her staff had professionally analyzed all the options and presented the results to council for the Gardiner east of Jarvis St.

The option that presented the best cost/benefit by far was removing the eastern end of the Gardiner and the remaking of Lakeshore Blvd. into a wider grand boulevard in addition to a waterfront LRT. There was/is no disputing the facts and evidence on this matter.

But of course Tory does NOT like facts and evidence when they get in the way of his 'pet projects' < think BDL subway extension, DumbTrack, privatizing solid waste collection east of Yonge St > and his politically motivated option of realigning and rebuilding the eastern end of the Gardiner.

Furthermore Tory's politically motivated and willful 'fact-and-evidence-free', based decision making process realignment option had no plan except a hastily drawn on the napkin scribbles by his staff and himself < once again think BDL subway extension and DumbTrack >.

And to add insult to stupidity his unsupported, unwarranted, un-PLAN, would cost +$1billion more than the option that by any and all measures was vastly superior and provided the greatest benefit.

John Tory is the best mayor the city has ever had.
If you disagree then name a better one.

He would be even better if he wasn't surrounded by a bunch of Leftist councillors blocking everything that needs to be done...but that's about to change thank goodness.

Like every other Liberal politician, she was double-dipping...and it's a wonder she even had time to do any "planning":

"But what really upset many councillors was the amount of time she spent outside of the office attending conferences, speaking engagements and doing TEDxToronto talks and You Tube videos. There were repeated questions about how she had time to do so, how her work as a planner was getting done, and whether it was a conflict to be paid for some of these engagements over and above her $246,000 salary in 2016?"

Justin Di Ciano, who was vice-chairman of the city’s planning committee, said while she talks about “leadership and accountability” in the current mayoralty campaign, taxpayers need to know she took paid speaking engagements throughout the life of her five-year contract with the city and refused to say who was paying her.

She says she claimed she was doing the speaking engagements as a “private citizen.

“She was a public servant… Now she’s running as mayor…I’d like to know who was paying her for her speeches,” he said. “She was taking money on the side to speak about planning issues…who was paying her?”

That's not a viable plan. You can't link 2 major highways by a boulevard. INSANITY.

Couldn't possibly be worse than a drug-addicted liar who only ever wanted to play football, puppeted by his older brother the ex-drug dealer who pretended he was running Daddy's company.

Even blue-sky predictions should have a fact or two they're built on. Nothing from you?

Haaaa! Farkin hilarious.

1) Name an agenda item or two that the alleged 'leftist' councilors have 'blocked' Tory from doing. Hint, hint ..... you can't because the alleged lefties do not have a majority on council to block anything. They would actually need the support of the alleged 'righties'.

2) Do you really believe that Doug 'I can't stand John Tory' and "I hate Toronto' Ford who is now the Overlord of Toronto will actually have the best interests of Torontonians at heart? Do you really believe that Doug will not attempt to screw over John Tory if the opportunities arise?

Our first, William Lyon Mackenzie, David Crombie, Allan Lamport, Nathan Phillips …. Lot's to choose from.

Tory may yet measure up, but he's only had one term. You need a wider vision.

You can't be a "great" mayor unless you solve a "great" problem or shown "great" vision to develop the city. Tory has accomplished none of that.
