I think the projections are wrong. Ever see the traffic volume at Kennedy Station? The volume of busses?

It's huge. And that was a long time ago I traveled via that station.
Your personal anecdotal evidence is also ancient?
Such a strong argument.

Yes. It has only increased according to friends out that way.

He has lived in every neighborhood in the city, traveled on every transit route throughout the city, ridden on all the roads, been in every high rise, counted all the cars at every intersection ..... blah, blah, blah .... counting buses is his livelihood.

Are you saying that prior to amalgamation there were little to no residents living in downtown Toronto? I was living there at that time and there were a lot of residents, apartment buildings, condos and office towers. I am sure that there was enough people in the downtown area to have justified at that time a proper sewer system.

Too bad that some of those good old councilors who scored millions from developers to use for their slush funds did not divert that to maintaining the infrastructure.

I think you are being a little too dramatic and over the top in your assessment of the future of governing the city.
Just as there were enough people living in in North York to justify a better water system than the one they installed.

Nothing lasts forever, including Little Old Toronto whose downtown population has almost doubled in some areas since Harris's MegaCity. That was why we rearranged wards to give everyone proper representation after much careful study and proper debate. DoFo swept that away, gave it no thought or discussion and re-stacked the deck because he could and, without caring whether it would be worse for the City, he could sell the lie that it would be cheaper.

Those nameless Councillors with their bogeyman slush funds are just as likely to represent Long Branch as Leaside or York MIlls as Yorkville. When you have any real specifics we can talk about them, but I haven't heard Mammo or Ainslie arguing we need to spend more overall. And their funds are as slushy as anyone's

Perhaps I am being over dramatic, but even DoFo thinks the future of Toronto is bleak unless it's fixed, so I'm far from alone. But unlike him, I believe in democracy as the way to find what's best for most people. He used his dictator's power to turn back the clock and make things worse for all but the few people attached to his party.

Toronto is the economic engine of Ontario.

We deserve someone who will keep it running well, not try to attack it every chance he gets out of spite.
Drug Ford complains about gun issues in Toronto but won't support the city's idea of banning handguns, despite most illegal guns now coming from registered owners selling them off for big profit.

And you in previous years admitted( and therefore I'm not outing information) that you live North of the city while working for it.

So really the only stake you have in it is to ensure a left leaning council for contract negotiations.

Born, raised and lived in Toronto for 43 years.

Yes, lived in Woodbridge for 3 years while employed with the city you apparently secretly despise that you wish a Ford brothers' induced apocalypse reign/rain upon it.

Love my city. That's why spending on certain things need to be reigned in.

That's all I ask. The city take take care if it's primary responsibilities first. Have you seen the flooding occuring in downtown? Around Liberty Village?

Poor planning that occured long before and a council that became addicted to real estate tax and developer levies as opposed to regular sustained income b

And transfering even part of those levies and taxes to social programs which is now coming back on us.

Even better not keeping up the social housing we have but funding more shelters instead.

And 10 injection sites.

My issue was with a city council without their eye on the zoning ball. Their primary function beyond core services.

Poor planning in this city is more of a reflection on the power of the OMB then it is on city council, though they take some blame too.
Then there are fools who get in power and cancel transit plans and replace them with poor choices.

Even with the current representation in place and numerous mayors in place since amalgamation, the needed infrastructure was not done. The mayor is but one vote on a council and the fact that council as a whole either ignored, decided not to invest or felt it was not worth investing was a decision that the majority of those elected officials made.

To me, that tells me the crop of councilors employed by the city over the last 20 years has done a poor job of managing the infrastructure needs. This is not simply a "blame the Fords" issue.

Since the 80's. That one award for best transit system caused the council's and Metro Council and the Province to rest on their laurels instead if maintaining the award.

And that attitude continued to now.

Are you here to expound on your expertise in climate change and carbon dating or to insult us for not following your failure of an economic model?
Feel free to show off with your superior intellect and spelling.

In the Monday Council meeting outgoing councillor Justin DiCiano asked the city clerk two questions.

One. Could they run a 25 ward election? The answer was yes, and with confidence of an error free one.

The next question was could they run a 47 ward one. The answer was no. It would certainly be a "cont**********ted" election.

And despite this and there own hired legal experts advising they can't win in court, the council voted to go ahead with a court challenge anyway.

And they wonder why many see the benefit of less of them.

Contested election? Contaminated? Contemplated? Controverted? Convected? …

When we set fake intelligence (sometimes called AI or Artificial) to take over from the real deal we just make everything worse. Not that censorship is ever a good thing anyway.

… Contributed? Contrasted? Contraposited?

Or did a slip of the typing finger produce contr.a.verted? TERB hates a r.a.v.e.r.!! My own pet peeve is folks who can't be bothered to read their own posts, but still expect us to puzzle them out.
-----------
ON topic: Assuming a 25 member Council reflected the left-right split of the Provincial and Federal elections using the same boundaries, the vote on any similar motion would probably go the same way. Tinkering with the crowd size doesn't make it any smarter. If DoFo adjusted all the ridings to be the size of Toronto's — which he has the power to do, and which would "… reduce the size of government" as he promised the Province— he'd likely have far fewer seats (and no power next election). But that wouldn't make him any wiser.

No idea why it did what it did. Another quirk.

But you get the idea.

Great, now we have two levels of government suing each other, both of them spending our tax money, enriching lawyers. Hurrah.

I do. And trust your Spellcheck, it is 'controverted' from 'controversy'.

Other words TERB will never let you use are the first name of Trudeau the Elder, or Rudolf Valentino's role as an Arab chieftain, and you can mention 'courage' but never b**********y.
