So next time there's a shooting in Huntsville, Barrie, or Ajax...
And yes, he absolutely made the decision to mention he was wearing a vest. He could have more than adequately described going on a ride along without playing to his hick base and their fear of minorities and the big city.
When multiple shootings start happening in Ajax, when the prices sore to high, when it gets too over populated and the attitudes of people start to change to resemble TO - yes I will move from Durham. Why is that so hard to believe. I do not like Toronto. I won't go to Toronto if I can avoid it. That is my personal feeling. Accept it buddy. Sorry that your city is not one that I want to partake in. I don't like zucchini either. Do you want to try and convince me that is good or other vegetables are bad???? Why are you forcing a debate on my personal feelings regarding Toronto? Is it because you personally feel insulted that I don't like your city????? But if I said New York or some other US city, that would be acceptable to you?
Kind of like this guy who you already said that if Jane and Finch was NOT said then this would be a moot point as well.
See - it has nothing to with racism. It is just people personally butt hurt that people don't like their area or feel it to be unsafe. Just like you don't like that I don't like Toronto. Nothing racist there either.
Although can you please tell me how you KNOW he made the conscious choice to mention Jane and Finch and bulletproof vest in the same sentence and that it was to play to his "hick" base??? BTW is that racist? Calling his supporters hicks? As in what? Dumb white people?????
Stop looking for things to be butt hurt over. People have the right to feel and think how they want. I don't like Toronto and I am not going to Toronto if I don't have to. I don't feel like I am missing out at all. He wore a bulletproof vest in a ride along that took him to places of multiple shooting sites which happened to be Jane and Finch. Don't like it then go into the neighbourhood and clean it the fuck up
When a black man and his son were stopped at a mall in J&F, and asked by a reporter how he felt about what was said, he gave the most honest answers. He said:
1. Violence in black neighbourhoods is more different and violent then any other neighbourhood.
2. If he could afford a vest, he would be wearing right now
3. Too many single family homes with 3,4,5 kids making it easier for people to be ignorant of what is going on around them.
4. People are purposely ignorant and black people need to stop that. When you see your teenage son with new Jordan's, no job and not going to school? What do you think he is doing?
5. It needs to start here with black people first but I am happy someone is coming to try and look at our community.
These were the 5 main take-a-ways from that interview. That was one smart man and he was bang on. But he was allowed to say those things because he is black. Doesn't matter that they are all true statements. Because he is black is okay to say.
Well sorry but I think that is a bunch of bullshit. If only one race can't talk about some of the serious problems they are having in a community then that community is not going to get the help it needs. Not in a country of muiculturism like canada/Toronto.
In my opinion, the man cared enough to show up and go visit these places. With a intent to do something about it and all you want to do is harp on the words bulletproof vest and J&F. Pretty fucking sad if you ask me. When so many better things could have been done with the time wasted debating this stupidity.
I think both of us have said our piece. I know I have. So I done with this debate now I think.
Have a good day and please try not to get shot, robbed, stabbed, or killed by a car while riding your bike in the city you love so much. Good luck.
