No one will be charged for denial of a historical event
in the civilized part of the world. But historical events
are not all equal. The holocaust is more equal than just
about any other historical events.

She's was in Germany when she made the video and it's against the law in Germany. She knew that and she continued with her racist bullshit and gets what she deserves.

And no, Holocaust denial is not academic questioning of a historic event. The evidence is so deep and compelling that the only rationale is severely tenuous grip on reality or knowingly racist hate propaganda.

And Canada does not protect Canadian citizens from laws of other countries but simply tries to ensure their rights are being upheld.

What kind of sick world do we live in where denying a historical event can get you sent to prison???
Ask Herr Keegstra and Herr Zundel. Canada put those two neo nazi racist motherfuckers in jail for holocaust denial in the 80's and - Bazinga!!!!! - no more Holocaust denial in Canada. Problem solved.

I figure we should put a few more Far righties in jail and solve that friggin' problem too.

The alt-right amazes me. It’s like they take the very most toxic parts of the shittiest ideologies on the planet and combine them into a giant mass of idiocy. Racism, white nationalism, conspiracy theories, anti-immigrant bullshit, anti-science, all wrapped up in a ridiculous victim complex. They may very well be the single most stupid “movement” that has ever existed.

I find it strange you chose this incident among others to advocate free speech.
This incident is precisely the kind that a true free speech defender needs to advocate for. You find her opinion reprehensible. So what???

Should I be sent to prison for denying slavery? If not, why not? It was arguably worse. What other opinions should condemn someone to a prison cell....?

Popular speech is easy to defend. Whoever is not willing to defend all speech is a borderline Nazi in my book.

Entirely agree. But as Justice Brandeis famously wrote: "the remedy to be applied is more speech, not enforced silence."
Not a fan of s. 1 of the Charter of Rights, I guess??

Betcha you say something totally different if we're talking about "commies" and not "neo nazis". Put those lefties in jail! Right now!

Why don't you try it and see how many years in prison you get in this country?

I figure it would be good for at least 5.

It's a social utility argument. The old adage is "speech is good, but someone who yells "bomb!" in a crowded concert venue gets to go to jail for a while."

In this country, we put people in jail if they say shit they know is false simply to stir up race hate and profit from it. Like Holocaust deniers. Both headline Holocaust denial trials in Canada involved careful consideration of the Canadian constitution and an in depth examination of whether Keegstra and Zundel really believed that the Holocaust didn't occur and whether they were consciously lying and attempting to profit from stirring up hate against Jews. The court found that both men were consciously lying and profiting from anti antisemitism. So they were jailed.

I have no problem with that. In fact, I really like it. If you have a problem with that, live in some other friggin' country. Canada doesn't need people like you.

And you know the best part?... I get to see your buddy-boy Ezra Levant and your buddy-girl Faith Goldy tread very, very carefully and watch their P's and Q's whenever they open their vile, goddam rightie traps in case they slip up and trip over that line and then............. they get to go to jail as well.

It is how one is trained. I may not always agree with it, but I am a believer in Justice Brandeis' famous maxim.

German and Canada have in the modern era got it dead wrong.

Hence today in Germany one has all those people who you would think from their flags are ardent Prussian Monarchists, yet are really dishonest Nazi sympathizers hiding due to German law.

what kind of a sick world do we live in where trolls like you can exist?
Agreed. somebody in Canada should help her out. A 2 hour prison visit with a pair of steel toed boots.
Do you feel the same way about that African dictator named Robert Mugabe?

You call this debate trolling while someone's freedom is at stake. What has become of you???

Germany's law is 'is contrary to international law." Is the Ontario Civil Liberties Association a troll organization???

Can I deny the genocide of Canada's indigenous people or will I serve time if I do so?

Justin Trudeau is not going to risk his political career to make
any attempt to save this woman. His old man refused to serve
the cause of fighting nazism and wore a nazi-style helmet but
that was a time way before the political correctness era

According to one version of their WWII history Japan was
suckered into Pearl Harbour by FDR and Nanking Massacre
never happened. At least the Japanese has the good sense
not to jail those who deny their version of history. And neither would the rest of the world jail any Japanese who
deny their atrocious past.
