My high school guidance counselor had a sign on his desk: "If you want to know how indispensable you are, stick your finger in a bucket of water, pull it out and see what kind of hole you've left".

Who pissed in your corn flakes? I just said he had a sign. I was able to read it without his assistance.

A friend told me that one day because I'm the kind of person that always tries to help people and make everyone else happy that I was neglecting my own needs and my own happiness. I had always put myself second. After this advice she gave me I remember to make sure I'm ok and capable of being there for others.

The time to take the money is when they're handing it out, cuz if you need it and they're not in a handing out mood, it can be a problem.

Can relate. It's been a huge awakening for me to incorporate self-care this year.
There are too many replies to see whether or not this was said already but from the ones I’ve read, no. My mom always says “don’t complain about the things you can’t control”. Yes, we’ll still find things to complain or be annoyed at but reading between the lines, I’ve understood it to mean not to stress so much over stuff. If it’s literally out of my hands, so be it.
