What is the best advice you have received?

My high school guidance counselor had a sign on his desk: "If you want to know how indispensable you are, stick your finger in a bucket of water, pull it out and see what kind of hole you've left".

You needed a guidance counselor to figure that out?

"You can't take care of other people if you don't take care of yourself first. Unfortunately that requires a little bit of selfishness."

A friend told me that one day because I'm the kind of person that always tries to help people and make everyone else happy that I was neglecting my own needs and my own happiness. I had always put myself second. After this advice she gave me I remember to make sure I'm ok and capable of being there for others.

The time to take the money is when they're handing it out, cuz if you need it and they're not in a handing out mood, it can be a problem.

You can make money in the stock market as a bull, and as a bear, but not as a pig.

When crossing a street in England, LOOK RIGHT!

my father told me when I was a teen, not to lie to authority figures because if they ask you a question, chances are they already know the answer

Instead of trying to make people see how wonderful you are make people see how wonderful they are...the results are a win win unless you need validation for your ego..then this cannot help you.

Don't let the past dictate your future.

You can't change anyone except yourself.

Forgive, not because they deserve it, but because you do. (Holding onto resentment is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die)

If they loved you, you wouldn't have to tell them how to.

Can relate. It's been a huge awakening for me to incorporate self-care this year.

There are too many replies to see whether or not this was said already but from the ones I’ve read, no. My mom always says “don’t complain about the things you can’t control”. Yes, we’ll still find things to complain or be annoyed at but reading between the lines, I’ve understood it to mean not to stress so much over stuff. If it’s literally out of my hands, so be it.
