Two words. Universal health-care.The Reagan Democrats are centrist by the name's very definition. There's no way they'll vote for a socialist.

Numbers don't support that in the case of Reagan Democrats, even if they still exist. The Obama care was a loser among the middle class. In any case, if the Dems get creamed at the midterms the party will turn hard to the center into Bill Clinton's territory. There will be no room for an old socialist in that environment. Two words. You may be correct. The President promised those who voted for him that he had the business experience to replace Obama Care with something which actually worked. Instead he did nothing, had his Secretary of Health and Human Services (who had some experience in drafting bills on the subject) do nothing and merely said to Congress oh you come up with something. If the economy starts to go down with a trade war, all bets are off the table. Two words. Universal health-care.
He turned it down because they pretended to let him run for it. With them changing to rules and many of the left having Hillary regret, I’m not so sure.Bernie will turn it down, just as he refused to run against HRC when she was nominated.
If you want to see someone agree / disagree / duck questions / run and hide / pretend not to be doing any of the foregoing, you missed the Marco Rubio interview on CNN last night. I've never seen a guy try and say so many nothings in so short a space of time.
They do. I think they do. If he is allowed to legitimately state the real numbers on it. And goes with slow transition by raising the income threshold for qualification gradually to allow the system to adjust.Numbers don't support that in the case of Reagan Democrats, even if they still exist. I see Trump losing ten percent over this. To 30%. I see the dems losing to 30% as well. And 40% with new voters, independents, and soft two party voters to Bernie. He turned it down because they pretended to let him run for it. With them changing to rules and many of the left having Hillary regret, I’m not so sure.
Can you name a Dem as likely to get the Dem nomination (if he were allowed to run) as Bernie?
All Trump needs is for a canidate to split the not-Trump vote and he’s in.
Which makes absolutely no sense at all if your House or Senate candidate is a "Main Street Republican."Bernie will not run as an Independent. It will be a GOP person to take out Trump. Conservatives hate Trump and want him out.
George Will called for Repubs to vote against the GOP in the midterms
I disagree. He didnt turn over his donor list. His volunteer network is still active. He is heavily involved in primary races and the midterms all across the nation. He apparently has a book coming out and is starting to get more airtime.Bernie will not run as an Independent. It will be a GOP person to take out Trump. Conservatives hate Trump and want him out.

Hey... it's the new USA ! All you need is a bizarre celebrity whacko to run on an outrageous platform......So after we all get over singing along to a recording of Louis Armstrong's Wonderful World. It is amazingly hard to run a third party nationwide political campaign. As a fundamental part of federalism elections are run by the states so you would have to manage to get onto the ballot in all 50 states, look at the last Presidential election none of the third parties was on the ballot in all fifty states.
Unless polling showed that for some reason this new party was running away with the election people would be unwilling to vote for it for fear of splitting the vote. e.g. exactly what happened in the election of 1912
I don’t think any of them will go for Bernie, he’s the public sector and hipster canidate of choice.I think all those Reagan Democrats in the mid west and rust belt will go for Bernie.
I think the DNC will fuck up the primary again.
I see Trump keeping his 40%, Bernie taking 25 and the player to be named later taking 35.I see Trump losing ten percent over this. To 30%. I see the dems losing to 30% as well. And 40% with new voters, independents, and soft two party voters to Bernie.
How this works out for the E college is another matter.
But if he goes all in all bets are off.
If you're correct, and maybe you are, electoral math means getting to 270 is a bad bet. Bernie takes 125 (all the hardcore lib states) and Trump can only afford to lose WI and MI to him. It would be a highly entertaining shitshow.I see Trump keeping his 40%, Bernie taking 25 and the player to be named later taking 35.
Im wondering about the rust belt. And the areas hardest hit with opiods and meth. Trymp was the change candidate. I can see maybe 10 switching votes.I see Trump keeping his 40%, Bernie taking 25 and the player to be named later taking 35.
Then it's the House that decides, but one vote per state.Im wondering about the rust belt. And the areas hardest hit with opiods and meth. Trymp was the change candidate. I can see maybe 10 switching votes.
And again i have no idea how this would play out in the EC. What happens in a three way race with no 50% plus winner? Is there a run off?
In the 1970's only 20% of the population registered as independent. That is now up over 40%. The two party system is not as monothithic anymore. And the antics over the last few decades have increased it.If Bernie runs outside of the DNC he will just split the left vote like Ross did to Bush, and hand down the White House back to Trump. It's still early, but the only thing that can make this outcome doubtful is a dramatic economic downturn. A positive economic outlook blocks any appeal for dramatic turns.
Sure, except that, what most of the political commentators are not seeing, Trump is right on the message that the electorate cares about. Even the previous week, with most of the media just going nuts, has not moved the needle. Illegal immigration is a winner for him. All he has to do is keep the economy going to get his way. The Democrats will soon be at the "come to Jesus" moment and there won't be any challenges to Trump from the right. When Mich McConnell crosses to Trump's side, you know that Trump's takeover of the GOP is complete. And that has already happened. In the 1970's only 20% of the population registered as independent. I think the stupid infighting causing gridlock has finally taken a toll. And with rumours of Bloomberg as well a fatal fourway is not out of the question.
