Nice to see they’re rounding up Johns looking for underage. It would be nice to see them round up pimps, especially those trafficing underage girls.
I read the comments on that article, the “public” want the Johns names, so they can be persecuted before they go to court.
I might be guilty of advocating vigilante justice too.

But really, I’d like to see this community police itself. Wouldn’t it be good if SP’s turned in thier pimps and stood up for underage girls? Wouldn’t it be good if us Johns reported pimps and trafficing? Wouldn’t that make us all safer and thus happier?
I’ve seen girls turn a blind eye to other girls who were pimped. I’ve been told to stay away from so and so, she’s pimped. A number of times. Why isn’t anybody doing anything about pimps?

No.
I’ve seen lots of Agency ladies, NONE of them were forced to be there. They all voluntarily walked in the door and could walk out with thier earnings at the end of the day.

I have reported trafficked girls. One was crying when I arrived. I called crime stoppers. Another had been beaten. I called police.

Eleven men are facing a combined 45 charges following a two-week undercover investigation into human trafficking in Peterborough and in Durham Region.

Peterborough Police partnered with Durham Regional Police and the Ontario Provincial Police to conduct the undercover sting.

Project Chestermere, launched in May, targeted people allegedly seeking sexual services from 16-year-olds.

Undercover officers placed online ads advertising sexual services with prostitutes over 18. Clients responding to the ads were then told by text that they were being offered girls who were only 16. Hotel rooms were then rented for the clients who still wanted to go through with it. The clients were again asked in person by the undercover officers if they still wanted to have sex with a 16-year-old. Those that did were arrested in the sting.

The investigation ended last week, Durham Regional Police said, and charges include sexual exploitation, obtaining sexual services for consideration and luring a child.

None of the accused were named by Durham Regional Police.

There were no arrests in Peterborough, Peterborough Police spokeswoman Lauren Gilchrist told The Examiner on Tuesday.

Investigators are calling on people to come forward with tips about any other incidents of forced sex-trade work.

"The DRPS would like to appeal to any person who may be involved in a similar situation or may know someone involved to come forward," it states.

"DRPS takes these cases seriously and will conduct a thorough investigation, as well as protect the victims of this crime."

I'm not a lawyer but isn't it entrapment when the police offer sex with 18-year-old and 19-year-old girls to be set up with these potential johns, then at the last moment say they can offer a 16-year-olds and when the potential john agrees, they charge him with a crime?

I understand that under any circumstance, wanting to purchase sexual services from minor is a crime, but I still think this sounds like entrapment. Apparently these men were willing to partake with an 18-year-old but then the girls age was changed.

Yes, the men were seeking underage.

The title of this thread is very misleading. The news story had nothing to do wih trafficing. It was a police sting on Johns seeking underage.
I met a girl in Durham who is 26, the police went after her for being underage, kicked her out of hotel, shamed her publicly in front of hotel staff. It was all BS operation, police and hotels “teaching” staff how to spot trafficing.
