Does anyone have an opinion on the Blackberry? The Key1 has been out for a year or so, and I have read some good things about it. I am going to finally take the plunge and get a new smartphone and was wondering if anyone here has experience with this product. I personally love the idea of a real keyboard. Thanks.

I'm looking at the Key as well. My Motorola Z has been a disappointment to be honest.

I have the Key2. I upgraded from the Classic. It's a nice unit, however, I am now receiving sponsored ads on my bbm.

BBM is a free multiplatform app so sponsored ads are a given.

I loved feel of the BB physical keyboard but the reliability and lifespan of the latest models were lackluster.

I did not receive them on my Classic. I paid for the BB, and I pay a monthly BB charge to Rogers. I would expect ads on a free app (i.e. android users who install it), but not on my dedicated BB. It's a disappointment. Likely, this will be my last BB.

The latest BBs are all running Android unlike the Classic which used BlackBerry OS 10.3.1.

I have had a K1 for a little over a year and like it. Was considering upgrading to the K2 but could not justify the price of a K2 $800+ last time i checked

a couple of things you may wish to know

- Android operating system sucks (compared to BB10)
- battery life is awesome. I get 1.5 - 2 days on average
- the Google software (pics, chrome, location, maps, etc are very intrusive) compared to BB10
- camera is very nice
- voice quality for the person you are taking to is average.
- screen and processor is good.
- phone is super solid and built like a tank. I have dropped it a few times with zero damage
- speaker is mono and average quality
- Blackberry DTEK security is awesome and notifies you when apps are up to shit they should not be
- keyboard is good but as good as the Passport keyboard

I would absolutely buy whatever Blackberry builds beyond the K2.

Blackberry is a fair weather friend. They have not respect for and offer no support or upgrades to BB10 users. One thing which is clear about Blackberry is one their respect for the keyboard user and two their lack of respect in virtually all other areas for anyone who has bought from them in the past. Both of these factors account for their less than 0.4% and decreasing market share.
