You could see the wreck coming for years.....
They were not interested or capable 0f being a major cell phone player going forward as evidenced by their poor business model and delivery. Blackberry (RIM rip) kneecapped themselves.

I agree. At the time the smart phone market was all theirs. They had the entire market, then they just stopped. I have no idea what they were thinking.

I agree, but I think I understand.

At the time of the inflection point, touch-screens were all the rage and price/reliability curves were starting to intersect. If I'm a BB exec, all I hear from my customers is "I love you because of your physical keyboard" - a sentiment I hear almost exclusively from men over 40. It's always easier to keep doing what you've been doing though.

Also, and please correct me if I'm wrong, the BB financial model was based on a closed ecosystem. That can't compete with thousands upon thousands of flashy apps available on the competitors devices.

A pity though. I'm sure today's market would have benefited from a serious 3rd choice.

I got a good look at this phone recently from a lady with a nice pair. Interesting to note that the Blackberry logo doesn't even appear on the phone as far as I could see unless I was distracted by the view ?
