Can't say it's his fault but someone will take the fall. This team seems to be mostly comprised of castoffs and misfits. Antho left a lot of baggage behind, but he did sign vlad.

I will say fired on June 7th. Hired somewhere as a bench coach or base coach but won't ever manage again.

The winner will receive a free one hour pse appt. with the agency girl of your choice. All you have to do is get them to agree to it, good luck with that.

when you fire a manager , You have to make sure there is someone better out there to handle the team. I dont know if there is right now, I could be wrong.

There's always someone available, I'm a bandwagoner, if they're terrible I don't watch. When attendance drops a move will be made, or it probably already has.

Now that Farrell is no longer with Boston, where is Butterfield?

Butter would handle the Blue Jays reins nicely.

Lifelong Baseball man, knows the team and the city.

What about the guy that filled in last year for him, thought he was looking to take the next step? What was his name?

I think all three will be fired, gibby, pitching and hitting.

Butterfield is with Cubs....Maddon grabbed him - I guess he thinks coaches do make a difference. Lets give De Marlo Hale a shot. Or how about an almost retired player who is well respected (like the Twins with Paul Molitor)....how about Curtis Granderson for manager? Be great with kids ..knows the game....not as player manager, give his playing job to Alford or Pompey or Smith.

The Jays should have started a Toronto trend. If you lose to Cleveland in playoffs - you lose your job. I don't think Gibbons will be fired this year...but if so, I pick June 8 - the day after the election

This team has gotten stale and no reason to watch them. Not a single player I have any interest in following. Although it's nice to see pillar doing well.

Gibby will get fired if his team is 10 games under .500 by the first week of June. Shapiro is patienty waiting to steal young assets from other teams for his over the hill veterans as we speak. How many years Shapiro&Co has been around now? Soon, they will have to answer to their bosses of the progress of their 5-year plans. Gibby will find his job soon if he got fired by the Jays. A reunion with AA in Atlanta should be a given. AA Braves are doing well, too.

Those teams must just be drooling, waiting to give away their futures. They should get at least two blue chippers for Tulo alone.

And once he fires the coaches, that sets the clock back another year or so, assuming he hires the right ones. This is his 3rd year, the team has declined significantly more each one and I have trouble seeing how they will be an over .500 team by the end of his 5th year.

:biggrin-new:

I was hoping they could get something substantial for Donaldson...but an average at .214 and a OBP at .310 I am less optimistic now.

When Gibby does get fired, eventually, I think he's done with baseball.

Gibby can only play with the cards that he has been dealt.

Stro has been terrible. Sanchez and Estrada have been cub par and Osuna well you know.

Happ had that one really bad outing and another mediocre one but other than that has pitched to his potential where the rest of the staff hasn't come close.

The starting pitching was supposed to be there strong point and without that their offence is going to have to save the day.

But Travis isn't the Travis we remember and Donaldson continues to struggle. Add to that the anemic output from Martin and Morales and you have a sinking ship.

Firing the manager isn't going help and could possibly make things worse than they already are.

Keep Gibby!!

Donaldson needs to get hot soon so that Shapiro can get something in return for trading him this summer. Otherwise, and I hate to keep coming back to AA, there's a possibility Donaldson could sign with the Braves during the off-season. The Braves tried JB at 3rd and didn't work out. JB was let go by the Braves over the weekend.

The above post summarizes the situation very well.

If the pitchers start pitching and the hitters start hitting again (like in April), then Gibby looks like a very good manager again.

I was thinking the same thing. The future is bright though.

I've never been a fan of Gibbons. His track record as a minor league manager was nothing to write home about. He has clearly shown that he doesn't understand the strategic aspect of baseball. I don't think he's prepared and I don't think he gets his players prepared. Particularly in spring training.
