What became of his prior set of charges? Are they still pending?

Yes oagre, IMHO, Bullard's other charges are still pending. He has to go to court on June 1, for one set of charges, and on June 20th for the prior charges, according to this Toronto star article.

They are taking a long time to get to trial.

The fresh charges must then relate to NEW attempts by Bullard to breach his bail conditions and talk to Cynthia Mulligan and then attempt to lie his way out of trouble by blaming someone else. What an idiot! He must be completely obsessed by her.

Thanks oagre. In your legal opinion, do you think that Bullard, might eventually wind up, having to serve jail time?? As a non lawyer myself, I have no clue, what all these charges against Bullard mean, or how serious they are etc

I guess I'm taking special interest in this case, as I used to listen to Bullard's show a lot, when he was a host on Newstalk 1010.

Bullard is an example of the kind of wackjobs that SPs (and women in general) must deal with all the time.

I have forgotten what the underlying allegations against him are and how serious?

I believe that this is his second breach of recognizance and now he has added an "obstruct justice", which means that he attempted to convince someone not to testify against him. Presumably he contacted Mulligan and begged / threatened / bribed her not to come to court. So he has parlayed a minor charge that he could have wriggled out of perhaps with an apology and counselling into multiple breaches of a judge's order. That in itself might mean jail time. OTOH, first offence and a well-known public figure whose career is now fucked. So anywhere from probation to 30 days' weekends, depending on the judge and how hardball he is.

I read the news today oh boy.

File that story under, thank Christ it ain't me this time. Evidence that the only thing that comes out of wanting someone too much is disgrace and ignominy.

Reading what is available in the media, they don't give any context or explanation on the nature of these new charges charges.

But reading between the lines in this article in the Toronto Star, it sounds like he breached conditions of his bail with respect to being outside his half brother's house in Brantford where he has been living in a supervised setting without being accompanied by one of two people. (His half brother or his half brother's commonlaw wife.)

It does not sound like he's stalking Cynthia Mulligan. (If he was so silly, I'm sure he would have been thrown in the klink.)

So he's not respecting the conditions of his bail. Foolish, but hardly a hanging offense.

So I'll give him the benefit of the doubt before I cast him into the lion's pit like so many of you. Let's see what the judge thinks about his behavior before we pencil him for a date with the electric chair shall we.

Fair points, Captain Kirk.

People seem to forget you're supposed to be innocent until proven guilty

Bullard should be PC leader in the upcoming election.

Stalk Carey Mulligan - why? She's just a symptom, Bullard suffers from disillusioned ambition. He was hoping to parlay his talk show into something bigger, in the beginning it looked that way. Tom Green gave him a huge bump and made him look cool, when Green went South so did Bullard's show. On his own he couldn't deliver the sausages. As for obsession, most guys learn that lesson by the time they reach 25.

A condition that he not be out alone would be an odd one in a lengthy pre trial bail. It's far more likely that he was ordered to not contact Mulligan and perhaps certain other people. And the obstruct justice is almost certainly trying to convince another person to destroy evidence or refuse to testify in court. Again that seems likely to be Mulligan.

Alternatively, he was living somewhere else without obtaining a change of bail and tried to get someone to lie to cover his ass on that.

Ya - totally her fault that he is a fucking obsessed loser that can't take no answer.

Like really? There should be a test you have to take before being allowed to post on a forum.

Oh I hope so. I have a message for him
