You must not have read this.

There is an old joke that if you have 4 Jews you’ll have 5 opinions.

The Jewish populations outside of Israel are far less conservative (with exceptions, like the crazies in Brooklyn), but they still send their children on free birth right trips to Israel to build the connection.

Evangelical support in the US for Isreal is far more important than Jewish support. There are 10x the number of evangelicals that support Israel than Jewish supporters in the US. It’s the reason US policy is so pro-Israel.

That's been going on for years, much of what I learned about the subject came from the Jewish community here in Toronto.
In the last few years its been much more pronounced.
Just check out groups like IJV.

Bronfmann is not just a jew, he is a very prominent and elite jew. Yes I understand that evangelicals are pro Israel and they voted for a cheating divorcee rapist to the office because of this. What Bronfmann speaks of is the growing disenchantment with Israel because of its hawkish foreign policies and oppression. Many diaspora jews are typically liberal and left leaning they do not like the hatred Israel is generating toward jews. On the one had Israel was created to protect jews, but Israel is (intentionally I believe) making life much less safe for jews outside Israel.

There always been a certain amount of disconnect between the American diaspora and Israel. Even among the ultra ortodox. There's nothing new, here. The perception is formed by the live in reality and the reality of Israelis is obviously different from the reality in New York City.

It ebbs and tides, but it is definitely tiding right now. I think no diaspora jew wants to take on a major war in the middle east that would mess up their lives.

I have dozens of Jewish friends (a small sample) 90% are Democrats, 100% are wildy pro-Isreal. In that community it’s hearsay to be critical of Israel. Again, a small sample.

Spitballing, that's what this is. For those who seriously study history one thing is evident. When the shit hits the fan, Jews need a place to run to. Fortunately for them there's a Jewish country, warts and all.

Unlike notti, franky, and others here, the vast majority of diaspora Jews are not opposed to Israel existence (except for that freaky fringe group that attends Iran's Holocaust conferences) and they do not cheer on groups like Hamas or Iran who openly call for Israel's destruction .

Those in North America who are upset with Israel are generally upset with the right wing policies of the current government and the influence of the ultra-religious minority on the generally secular country.

Even though Bromfman is talking about repairing the rift and keeping a strong tie between Israel and other Jews, the rabidly anti-Israel crowd is happy to warp the statements of any Jew to justify their hatred.

Straw man argument.
The rest of your post is garbage since its based on this straw man claim that people here are 'opposed to Israel's existence'.

I am not opposed to Israels existence. How do you come up with such a breath taking lie when I have said Israel should annex all of Palestine? Why do you think the rift exists? It exists because the diaspora jews are ashamed to be associated with the actions of Israel. So how do you "repair the rift"? Put a govt in place that isn't run by a brutal thug like bibi.

Interesting your definition of "strawman" is to state the truth. Are you denying you want Israel eliminated in favour of an Arab dominated state?

You mean other than you want it to be a state dominated by groups like Fatah and Hamas based on numbers? There is a reason why the only peace idea backed by the UN is Two States.

Why do you think the rift exists? ....
Because Israelis are regularly faced with terror attacks and neighbours trying to destroy them while diaspora Jews in most countries don't have to face daily racism? You can see that in countries like France where anti-semitism is growing again, Jews are leaving in noticeable numbers to Israel where at least they know the government will protect them.

p.s. Brutal thug? This coming from a guy who backs Assad. As much as I see Netanyahu on the same level as trump, that is still many steps less brutal than the leaders of Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Egypt.

Hypocrisy galore, the topic of Israel just brings it to the fore.
