From Whitney Houston's debut album. Produced by the one and only Kashif. May they both R.I.P.

25 years ago this past May 31, the Beastie Boys released their 4th studio album - Ill Communication. Featured the hits Sabotage (along with a killer video), Sure Shot and Get It Together (with Q Tip). But my favorite song on the album is this 2 minute delight

Great song, but the best song on the Album is Root Down. I never liked any of their non rap songs like Sabotage or Fight For Your Right.

No doubt Root Down was one of the highlights of the album. Don't forget Sure Shot, I love that sample. Personally, I thought Fight For Your Right was one of the worst songs on Licensed To Ill. Why it got so much attention is beyond me. I did like Sabotage however one of my fav Beastie joints. Plus the video is gangster.

I was saddened to learn that Natalie Cole has passed away. She was 65, Nat died at 46...he was younger than ************ Trudeau.

In her prime, she was sexy AF!
Not a huge fan of Erykah's music but I do love the song Window Seat. And her collab with The Roots.

Speaking of the Roots. I fully admit I slept on them back in the 90's. Gotta admire a hip hop act that writes, produces and plays its own music with instruments. Illadelph Halflife is widely regarded as their seminal album, tough to disagree with that. Especially after listening to this gem.

I wholeheartedly believe that the 1970's were the pinnacle for black music. And quite possibly music in general.

KDouglas I totally agree with your comment. Nothing against the way music has evolved really. It's mostly because I'm another old geezer who grew up in that era of 4 Tops, Temptation, Supremes etc.
