With all the NDP surging and NDP in second headlines I doubt it.There will not be any coalition. I have a feeling that there will be a late Liberal surge that will effectively split the left's vote, clearing the path for the PC majority. The anti Ford hysteria has not yet reached the feaver pitch, but the "hysterical vote" will go to the Liberals and not to the NDP.
I think the surge is overstated. Especially this being the change election with NDP not really being that much of a change. Besides, the Liberals need a place to park their votes. The PC is certainly not going to get them and the Liberals don't exactly enjoy voting NDP. So, they will vote(in reduced numbers) hoping for some kind of coalition. Of course strategic voting is a fool's errand that might just be the path for a PC majority. With all the NDP surging and NDP in second headlines I doubt it.

Where do you live in a shitholeThe Conservatives don't have a chance in my riding.
There already is a crisis in health care with exceptionally long wait times in emergency rooms and patient bed in hallways or storage rooms. And ambulances are tied up for hours while waiting to have their patients admitted. Funny how Wynne only recognizes a problem when there is an election. And after cutting nurses she is now going to hire 3,500 more. Are there really near that many nurses available now. My doctor is convinced that Wynne hates doctors as they haven't had a decent raise in years. Maybe he should go to Ontario Hydro. The disturbing trend in this race on all party fronts is all of them are pressing for more government involvement in our lives.
Each passing week there seems to be a push for more "Free" offerings (and none of them are free).
Why does government want to pay for dental care, child care, post secondary education? We have gone decades without their involvement and there is no need for it now. Let people pay for it and receive the current child tax benefits and tax reductions to cover those costs.
The looming crisis is going to be health care as the population ages.
What's next on the freebie list? Groceries? What party is going to be prepared to pay for my groceries?
And what makes you think Ford won't cut health care even more? There already is a crisis in health care with exceptionally long wait times in emergency rooms and patient bed in hallways or storage rooms. Well, there you go.https://mindbendingpolitics.wordpre...rgest-deficit-projections-in-current-platform
PCs plan has the highest deficits, the Liberals the second highest, and the NDP the lowest.
There certainly won't be a Liberal "surge" but it will be fascinating to see how the Liberals campaign in the final weeks.
The Liberal party's future is in jeopardy. The "centre" in Ontario politics is disappearing -- and the Liberals are disappearing with it. As of this writing, the party -- which has alternated between being in government or being the official opposition -- is at risk of getting decimated and losing official party status.
Given the way funding for political parties is tied to a party's level of support, the Liberal party is in enormous trouble.
It's hard to believe that Kathleen Wynne wants to be remembered as the person who obliterated the Ontario Liberal party. At some point, one has to think her campaign will make an effort to convince diehard Liberals to stick with the party by distinguishing the Liberals from the NDP.
I agree that all parties govern more towards the center, but I think the reasons for that are not those you identify. Succinctly put, a shortage of money in addition to divisions within the ruling party account for the dilution of every governing party's platform.A two party system is a pipe dream of the Canadian faux Conservatives who view every battle as between good and evil.
Your view or "Conservatives" is as full of shit as most of your posts. In fact, I bet you're a new "Conservative".I agree that all parties govern more towards the center, but I think the reasons for that are not those you identify. That being said, there are TWO things I strongly disagree with in this particular single sentence from your post. One, any thinking conservative realizes that without a split of votes on the left, given the shift in demographics, conservatives would never rule in Canada again (until the inevitable financial collapse). As a result, thinking conservatives do not wish for a two party system. Two, I find conservatives to be generally more tolerant than inaptly named liberals. Conservatives already live in world where much is not going their way. However, they manage to do so without rioting over marginal issues or dropping out of society. Not so much for liberals when the pendulum shifts against them. While the truth may be that both factions find the thinking of the other to be repugnant, I'd say that today's liberals are more zealous in their denouncement of dissenting ideas. They are the new Puritans. It's just that their religion isn't based on any gods.
Who can argue with such clear minded eloquence? Sorry to interrupt your secular Inquisition, Padre.Your view or "Conservatives" is as full of shit as most of your posts. In fact, I bet you're a new "Conservative".
