To get away from reality for a little while, Toronto's professional sports teams have joined together to try to lift the spirits of a troubled city (#TorontoStrong) for an evening. On Wednesday our teams (cept for the Boatmen, who don't matter anyhoo!) will be engaging opponents in competition at the highest levels. Whom are you going to be following, if at all, and might you be like me and ensure that there's extra AA's around in case the remote goes!!

Jays vs Boston Red Sucks (7:05 EDT) in game two of their first series of the year among two of top teams in early going. Least consequential tie of the evening but based on April so far, high interest for all Jayheads!

Raptors vs Washington (7:17 EDT) in Game 5. Pivotal game for our guys and nothing but a win can be acceptable. Raps play their game, we will be fine. Big Game time for all. Let's go Raptors!

Maple Buds vs Boston Buzzkills (7:37 EDT) in another instant classic Game 7. Mammaries of 2013 to erase, instant validation of this Process, and hopes for a better day! This will win ratings race...

And the one with the greatest impact, TFC Reds vs Guadalajara (9:37 EDT) for the CONCACAF club championship. Win here for the Reds will be an iconic win for the club and instant validation in the global football world. It'll be tuff down two away goals but I know they can do it! Come On You Reds!

.......or you can watch Survivor, I guess.......or have a great dinner out...Support your local team!

Leafs and Jays for me.

I am hoping the Raptors get eliminated so that we can get more coverage of the sports that I like once they don't need to be covered by the media any more.

That Raptor comment should increase your popularity with the Terbites. Don't know how much of each game I will see, but am sure I will watch parts of each one. Hope all the Toronto teams come out on top.

I have made known previously, my dislike for basketball. I do not, however, begrudge others of their passions.

As to my popularity, I am pretty sure that I have the respect of those that I feel likewise. The ones that do not like me, I usually have no use for and that has nothing to do with that dislike of me.

Just curious how this would be so.

If TFC wins, where would this place our club against other world teams? I admit that I am not the most knowledgeable in soccer matters but how many club teams would be ranked ahead of us. Would we even be top 100?

TFC wont be playing for the Blather Cup in late December. Just as well, useless vanity tournament.

My life is no longer worth living and now you mock me. Cruel.
Mock you? no one on here would ever mock you, everyone has too much respect for you, your knowledge and insightful comments!

Good news...No Raps vs Wizards in a game 7!

Bad news.... At least 4 more games in Eastern semis, and then ......who knows?:rapture:

FYI, your attempts to diss me show no imagination or wit and are juvenile.

So some games did not go how I would have preferred. Big deal. My life does not revolve around sports outcomes. And your posts trying to rub it in mean even less to me.

Looking forward to your future "shots". I suspect they will also be bricks. As Phil would say, see you later sweetie.

I haven't. I too dislike the game. When I am forced to watch, either at a friends or at a bar, it baffles me on how a close game has all the life sucked out of it in the final minute. Just how many freakin timeouts does each team get? Why can't these "pros" think for themselves? I do remember being witness to a game, close game, last 30 seconds. Team A calls a timeout...we go to commercial. Back from commercial, Team A gets ready to throw the ball in....after seeing how Team B is set up to defend, they call another timeout...back to commercials. WTF. It is also the worst refereed game of all professional sports. And finally, the salaries are ridiculous. Marginal player are getting 10+ million/year. That all being said...hope the Raptors do well for all you fans!

And the funny thing is, is that the first 43 minutes mean nothing. Probably over 90% of the games all come down to the last 5 minutes or even less. There is no need to watch the 1st 43 minutes. There is no TSN turning point for a trey in the 2nd quarter. In hockey, baseball, football (either one) a score in the 1st may be the only score of the game. Shit that happens there is important. When was the last time a score in the 1st quarter of a BB game was the deciding score?

And then, as you so accurately described it, they fuck up even that highly anticipated part of the game.

I have more, but I have no need to whine to the devotees and irritate them. I know I am in the minority. I am just stating what my personal feelings are.

I think that overall, compared to other sports, BB is the least compelling to watch. Like I said, stuff that happens in the last 5 minutes is as exciting as any other sport. But until that time, the rest of the stuff is marginalized.

Meh for 43 minutes. Give me the meaningful stuff.
