If any of you knew ANYTHING about Roger Waters, you would KNOW that he's always been political, he's never afraid to say what he believes and he doesn't give a fuck what anyone else thinks about him. Difficult? (Sometimes.) A pain in the ass? (he can be.) But true to himself? (Always.) I get how he can scare some people with his honesty and his integrity.

On top of that, He's still got the energy and the drive and the passion of a 25 year old and he is regularly filling stadiums at age 74. We should all be so lucky.

He's a million miles from a hypocrite. God bless him and I love the guy. Shine on Roger. Shine on.

None of which changes that he is an anti-Semite.

I guess that is OK with you because he is not a hypocrite about it. The KKK are also not hypocrites.

Nonsense.

Roger Waters is not an anti Semite.

Roger is a vocal proponent of BDS. Daring to criticize Israel does not make a person an anti Semite. That's not what it means to be an anti Semite. Calling Roger an antisemite for speaking out against Israeli apartheid is just so predictable.

And that won't change a guy like Waters. Not one bit.

Blacks and Arabs are Semitic people too.
It is a fascist statement to call anyone Anti-Semitic for criticizing a state, especially one that constantly breaks international law.

When he claims to be a campaigner for human rights but has no issue with massive rights abusers like China and avoids discussing the massive problems in the world it does make it a valid question to ask. Adding in things like having a giant inflatable pig with a Jewish star at a recent concert also make it a realistic possibility.

And if the RT report has any truth to it, it seems he's happy to embrace Putin's conspiracy theories, another country with massive human rights problems.

Not only China, but Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, Algeria, Sierra Leone, Egypt, Lybia, North Korea, Sudan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Pakistan, Russia. You want more? I can give you more.

But Israel? Oh yeh, let's criticize and boycott Israel, Roger says.

So, why isn't he criticizing, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Saudi Arabia, etc. If he also criticized these states, most people wouldn't be so critical of him.

You are muddying the waters (no pun intended) with your China analogy. Israel has singled out an entire ethnic group of people - the Palestinians, and put them behind a wall and stripped all of their rights away. Basically an outdoor concentration camp. Roger Waters has played in Israel in the past and it blew him away what he saw first hand. So he's raising awareness to the issue by becoming an advocate for peaceful protest via his involvement with BDS and by making his fans aware. This is what scares the crap out of the Israelis that a guy who is seen by millions of people can pull the curtain aside on Israel and how they are operating a form of Apartheid.

As to the Star of David on the inflatable pig. Waters has been using inflatable pigs in his concerts since the 70's when he was a member of Pink Floyd. They are always decorated with many symbols. The concert you are referring to was in fact in 2012 - The Wall, which had 2 stops in Toronto. Great Show. Arguably the best I've ever seen (U2 Achtung Baby in March 1992 at Maple Gardens would be the other one). On that pig was not just the Star of David, but the Hammer and Cycle, The dollar sign, the McDonalds Logo, the Apple logo, the Shell logo and a host of others.

But I will let the man speak for himself on that issue:

"In a functioning theocracy it is almost inevitable that the symbol of the religion becomes confused with the symbol of the state, in this case the State of Israel, a state that operates Apartheid both within its own borders and also in the territories it has occupied and colonized since 1967," he writes. "The Star of David represents Israel and its policies and is legitimately subject to any and all forms of non violent protest. To peacefully protest against Israel’s racist domestic and foreign policies is NOT ANTI-SEMITIC."

I wonder if he uses an inflatable pig while touring Muslim countries. Sell out crowds in Iraq.Syria. Yemen. Egypt. Libya. Maybe not. They are busy taking care of more important business.Killing each other.Which they weren't doing before the creation of the state of Israel.

It is difficult to define my favorite Pink Floyd album. It seems to change with my age and time.

I think it is a tie between Animals, Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall and Meddle. Wish You Were Here was good, but I never really got into it for some reason. The Final Cut was okay, but there were too many goofy songs on it (The Wall had a mixture of goofy, and solid rock songs). I used to listen to the early stuff from the 60's when I was younger, but I have not listened to those albums in many years.

I liked his solo LP Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking and actually saw the concert promoting that album (great concert - first half was Floyd songs and the second was the new album). I think that David Gilmour produced much better solo albums as his first two were quite good (I still listen to these). I have copies of the solo albums of Rick Wright, Wet Dream (so-so) and Nick Masons Fictitious Sports (surprisingly good).

I do not give a shit about the political leanings of music/movie stars as their opinion is worth as much as anyone on this board. If I like their music, I will listen to it.

Roger has a large soap box platform that we do not. Big fucking deal. Aside from reading this thread his views never cross my mind, similar to most other people.

All in the name of religion.

But to answer your question, Waters doesn't shy away on his thoughts on any religion. Witness this video from the Wall.
