They made Jets look slow. Their positioning and speed all over is amazing. They're also smart all over. Often making the right play. No Gardiner's on this team.
Tonight's game was the best I've ever seen the OV's Capitals play. From start to finish the Caps were the more desperate team and they literally banged the Lightning into submission. Tampa has more speed and skills overall but the Caps may just win the series with grit, will and determination. It's going to be one hack of a game 7.
I can't see the Caps taking 3 games out of Tampa but anything can happens in a 1 game takes all and no matter where it's played.
Well. Congrats to the Caps on winning the Eastern Conference. Washington vs Las Vegas in the finals.
There will be a new Stanley Cup Champion this year. I say Vegas win in 5 games.
I'm a die-hard Leafer, but I am quite pleased with the Caps vs. Vegas finals. Great for hockey. OV deserves his chance and the Knights are in 'story book' mode.
Dustin Byfuglien was absolutely gassed against the VGK. By game 5 he could barely stand on his skates. That's the Jets Achilles Heel, they have a core of hard rock defensemen that don't move the puck very well. They could have used a Jake Gardiner.
If the Jets had Gardiner, they would have lost to the Predators the way the Leafs lost to the Bruins.
Not necessarily, the Leafs lack muscle on defense that makes Gardiner a liability. The Jets have muscle to spare but against a strong forechecking team they end up looking like pylons. Gardiner would be an asset because of his skating and passing.
You have to wonder if the Caps have anything in the tank after two 7-game series.
Knights vs. Caps. Who saw that coming. I actually don't have a real hate-on for either of these teams which for the first time in many years I don't have a favourite. I'd like to see Vegas win, it's both a cool story and would be happy for Fleury for being let go by the Pens.
I'd also like to see Ovie win a cup. He really does deserve one. You may not like the guy, but he does everything well and is looking like a true leader.

I would have bet it would have been Tampa vs. Winnipeg for the cup but I was so wrong. Vegas is an awesome story but I'm still jaded about Bettman putting another team in the desert as a carnival attraction instead of a serious hockey community. If it was any other city this might be a tough decision but since it isn't I'm 100% for Washington. I don't care much about the team but I really like Ovechkin and he deserves this.
Vegas certainly puts on a good show. it looks like a fun atmosphere in and outside of the arena.
Want to rethink that?
Sure was exciting to watch. I wonder if it's possible for these teams to play more defensively, or will all the games be high scoring?
