With San Jose gone the Leafs cannot move up in the draft to pick 23rd. If The Pens gets past Washington, the Leafs move up to pick 24th instead of 25th.

Such a relief that Winnipeg moved on. I was so worried when they lost game 6.

Great picks for next rounds, I'm guessing the same two.

Washington and Winnipeg both in 6.
Nice to see the Jets win, even though I thought Nashville would take the series.

* Vegas in 6 (though I am hoping for a Jets win)
* Tampa in 5

I was way off on my LA and Ana picks in round 1. Round 2 predictions

Wash over Pitt in 7
TB over Bos in 6
Nash over Wpg in 7 (epic series)
LV over SJ in 6
The only one I got wrong was Nashville, but right amount of games. Kudos to the Jets for winning a tough battle.

Eastern Conference Final prediction: TB over Wash. in 6 games. Goal tending will be the key difference.
Western Conference Final prediction: Jets over Vegas in 7 games. This one is a tough call but the difference maker for me in the stellar play of Trouba and Byfuglien on the blue line.

The Winnipeg Jets gave a conditional first round pick to St. Louis for Paul Statsny just at the trade deadline. That's looking like the deal of the century right now... holy crap
Stastny saved his best for last. Wow what a game by him. Best I've seen him look since the 2013-2014 playoffs with Colorado. Yes I'm an Avalanche fan :)

I will be happy any of these final four teams to win the Stanley Cup, there all deserve it. We could see Steven Stamkos win his first cup, Alex Ovechkin win his first cup, Canadian team winning the cup for first time since 1993 and seeing the Vegas Golden Knights winning the cup in there inaugural season.

Disappointed in the Vegas crowd last night. Lots of empty seats, people strolling around during the game and one dude who just played with his phone.

FFS, how many people there actually give a shit?! Was the entire crowd composed of sulkers who couldn't get Tom Jones tickets?!

Having followed the Jets all season long and so far into the playoffs confirms my opinions that 1) their core is the most balanced among all Canadian teams, and 2) their best player is Scheifele and not Laine. They may be down in the series now but I still like their chances of going to the final.

In comparison I don't think the Leafs lack talent up front but it's painfully obvious that they are seriously lacking in the grit and determination department as well as the ability to defend. They didn't play worse than they did in the regular season, but in the playoffs you have to raise your play to a higher level which they just failed to do.

The attendance was 18,577, 106% of capacity. What game were you watching?

The Vegas street party was about 40 people standing around to get free beer from the two budweiser stands. The crowd inside the arena would watch an offside or icing and have absolutely no idea why the whistle blew. There appeared to be a lot of empty seats because of the number of people at the concessions at any given time.

The Knights team though - what hustle! I've never seen such aggressive forechecking when they have the lead, and on the penalty kill they actually attack rather than sit in a box.
Really fast, exciting series and each game could easily go either way.

And yes, Scheifele has been outstanding all season - he should be the Conn Smythe Trophy winner if Fleury doesn't get it. Laine is not in the running.

Game is about speed. Leafs finally came to their senses and played Kapanen rather than Martin. Just that switch made a huge difference. Another reason why Jonnson has made the team next year.

The Knights are fast no doubt, but Winnipeg is not a slow team. The Knights are where they are now because of Fleury. IMO He's been the best goalie in these playoffs. Winnipeg is the better team not counting the goalie. The Leafs as a team was faster than the Bruins and they lost because of their inability to defend.

I have to agree with you on this. The most frustrating part beside the Leafs inability to defend, is that Rask looked shaky in game 7 and the Leafs didn't go after him shots in the third.

Congratulations to the Knights. Truly a Cinderella team in the making.

The Jets deserve better fate, both in bounces and benefits of calls. Scheifele was a beast. The best skater in these playoffs. Liane showed a lot of grit for his first playoff experience. Hellebuyck was very good except on a couple of soft goals which could have made the difference in some of the losses.
