Stephen Hawking's Chilling Warning To The World About President Trump

Emma Guinness

Renowned physicist Stephen Hawking has died at the age of 76. Diagnosed with a rare form of motor neuron disease, ALS, when he was just 22 years old, he was told that he would only live for another two years but went on to defy the odds to live a long and incredible life.

Hawking became the scientific world's most unlikely celebrity. Despite being wheelchair-bound for the majority of his life and only able to speak through a voice synthesizer, he authored some of the most important scientific works in recent history, including A Brief History of Time.

His intellect was so great that he was compared to Albert Einstein and Sir Isaac Newton, and, as a result, people have taken what Hawking had to say about the world very seriously. Now, following his death, the warning he gave to President Trump has gained even more momentum.

Throughout his life, Hawking issued a number of stark warnings to humanity. He believed that the human race was facing a number of imminent threats which could wipe out life on Earth entirely - such as AI, overpopulation, aliens, and, most recently, Donald Trump.

Even though Hawking found fame through his intellect, he won a special place in people's hearts thanks to his brilliant sense of humor too. He embraced all aspects of popular culture and even had a cameo in The Simpsons.

Hawking's incredible life and rise to fame were dramatized in the 2014 movie, The Theory Of Everything.

Although Hawking made a number of impressive discoveries throughout his life, it is believed that he will be best remembered for his groundbreaking work on black holes - the mysterious structures where the normal laws of physics do not apply.

His theory about black holes, known as Hawking Radiation, was never proven in his lifetime, but if it had been, he would have likely been awarded a Nobel Prize. He theorized that black holes can emit energy, despite science claiming nothing can escape their gravity.

Hawking's warning about President Trump, however, is not only a lot easier to understand but a lot easier to prove.

Hawking slammed the American president in June of last year after he withdrew from the Paris climate accord because he believed it was having a detrimental effect on the American workforce, even though it was playing an instrumental effect on keeping the planet safe.

Prior to the former reality star's election, he was described by Hawking as "a demagogue who seems to appeal to the lowest common denominator."

During an interview with the BBC, which is featured at the beginning of this article, Hawking said that Trump's decision on Paris could ultimately lead to Earth becoming like Venus - making life as we know it impossible in a temperature of 250°C.

On his 75th birthday, Hawking said, "We are close to the tipping point where global warming becomes irreversible. Trump's action could push the Earth over the brink, to become like Venus, with a 'temperature of 250°C, and raining sulphuric acid.'"

"Climate change is one of the great dangers we face, and it's one we can prevent if we act now," Hawking continued.

"By denying the evidence for climate change, and pulling out of the Paris Climate Agreement, Donald Trump will cause avoidable environmental damage to our beautiful planet, endangering the natural world, for us and our children."

Even though the human race is seemingly thriving in a way that it has never done before, Hawking was convinced that our days are numbered.

"I fear evolution has inbuilt greed and aggression to the human genome," he said. "There is no sign of conflict lessening, and the development of militarised technology and weapons of mass destruction could make that disastrous."

"The best hope for the survival of the human race might be independent colonies in space," he suggested.

Even if Trump's action doesn't cause irreversible damage to the planet, Hawking feared that making contact with alien life could.

"The idea that we are alone in the universe seems to me completely implausible and arrogant," he said. "Considering the number of planets and stars that we know exist, it's extremely unlikely that we are the only form of evolved life.

"If aliens ever visit us, I think the outcome would be much as when Christopher Columbus first landed in America, which didn't turn out very well for the Native Americans."

"I believe that life on Earth is at an ever-increasing risk of being wiped out by a disaster such as sudden nuclear war, a genetically engineered virus, or other dangers," he said before reiterating, "I think the human race has no future if it doesn't go into space."

We would like to wish our sincere condolences to Hawking's family during this extremely difficult time.

Where as this Nobel prize scientist won a Nobel prize
As a physicist, not as a climatologist.
Come back later when he's done some actual research on the subject and has a properly research paper that backs his biases.

Hawking's is also not a climatologist ... So his opinion is biases and full of shit!
I rather take an opinion from a Nobel prize scientist as a physicist rather that an opinion of Hawking's which he is not a climatogist and his is only a Theoretical physics scientist !

Has climate change been disproved? Large Hadron boffins cast shock DOUBT on global warming

MANKIND'S burning of fossil fuels may not be the primary cause of global warming, according to the shock results of a new study by scientists behind the Large Hadron Collider (LCH).

By JON AUSTIN
PUBLISHED: 03:31, Sat, May 28, 2016 | UPDATED: 08:21, Sat, May 28, 2016

Scientists behind the Large Hadron Collider (LCH). have cast doubt on global warming predictions
Boffins from CERN have also discovered projected temperature increases over the next century may have been over estimated.

Researchers found trees may have been putting similar aerosols into the air as burning fossil fuels, long before the industrial revolution, meaning humans may have had less impact on the climate than we thought.

Scientists made the discovery during an experiment to create an artificial cloud that was thought could help cool Earth and reverse global warming.

A study published this week in the journal Nature has looked more closely at the tiny particles within clouds, known as cloud seeds, that help cool the planet and found they can be produced naturally.

Clouds, including natural ones and those from aerosols, are seen by the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) as the single biggest source of uncertainty about the so-called human-caused climate change.

The problem stems from not knowing how cloudy the world was before the industrial era, and the fact that some of the gases produced by burning fossil fuels said to warm the plant in the long-term, actually help cool it in the short-term through cloud formation.

But now CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, have left the issue even more confusing after discovering, while creating the fake cloud, that trees could have been putting these aerosols into the atmosphere since they first grew at the time of the dinosaurs.

There may have been as many clouds in the pre-industrial era, say CERN scientists.

Their scientists run the Large Hadron Collider (LCH).- the world's biggest physics experiment in Geneva, Switzerland.

To make matters more confusing, there are two types of partials.

Direct aerosol particles come from dust, sea salt, and the burning of biomass.

Secondary aerosol particles are formed when gas is converted into a particle, and are responsible for more than half of all cloud seeds in our atmosphere.

Until this study, scientists thought sulphuric acid, largely produced with fossil fuel emissions, was needed to form secondary aerosols, and therefore responsible for the bulk of global warming aerosols.

However, the research found the Earth actually produces these particles naturally, without any interference from man.

We found that nature produces particles without pollution. That is going to require a rethink of how human activities have increased aerosols in clouds.
Jasper Kirkby, CERN particle physicist
The particles are created by a mix of tree vapours and cosmic rays - high-energy particles bombarding the atmosphere from outside our solar system.

Jasper Kirkby, CERN particle physicist and originator and spokesperson of the CLOUD experiment, said: "We found that nature produces particles without pollution.

"That is going to require a rethink of how human activities have increased aerosols in clouds."

The results may turn the whole climate change debate and projected temperature increases upside down, they said.

Climate change projections had always taken it that the amount of aerosol seeded clouds in the pre-industrial age would have been much less than since industrialisation.

But the findings mean the amounts could have been the same or just slightly less.

An abundance of clouds in the preindustrial era - something the new study hints at - would mean less warming in the future.

This means current estimates of projected warming in the 21st century could be reduced, the study concluded.

OMG!

Thanks for that one, totally fucking hilarious!
I mean, I laughed and fell out of my seat.

Your link isn't to a study, its to a library that notes that your author, one Jon Austin, has two articles published in that ever so established journal of knowledge, the Daily Mail.
So, just to establish the quality of work, I'd like to post the summary from his second 'study', or tabloid article as most of us would call it.

So your saying that CERN is garbage!
Did you know that
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is the world’s largest and most powerful particle accelerator. It first started up on 10 September 2008, and remains the latest addition to CERN’s accelerator complex. The LHC consists of a 27-kilometre ring of superconducting magnets with a ...

Did you know it cost $3.5 billion dollar to built the LHC.

So any experiment that come out of LHC is garbage.. That what you saying!!
So any climate change experiment from CERN that is peer reviewed and published in Nature is garbage that what your saying!!!

Are you that stupid!!

Ah, so this is the legit study that your tabloid author, Jon Austin, supposedly read and came up with his tabloid article.
Tell you what, go quote that study and tell me where it says, as you and Austin claim 'Large Hadron boffins cast shock DOUBT on global warming'.

(hint, it doesn't, your author is a bullshit artist and you're more likely to find proof that CERN will take us to another dimension)

You really are a sucker.

You have picked a Physicists who is a Climate Change Skeptic although he has a limited knowledge of Climate Science!!

Failure to do Homework Earns a Failing Grade
At this point we're 9 minutes into Giaever's 32-minute presentation, and he begins comparing climate science to religion. Yet based on his arguments in those first 9 minutes, it's clear that Giaever has not done even the most basic climate research, so how can he possibly make such a radical determination?

While Giaever is certainly a highly accomplished physicist, that does not automatically make him a climate expert as well. As Giaever himself has admitted, he has spent very little time researching the subject, and it shows. He simply bounces from one climate myth to the next, demonstrating a lack of understanding of Climate Science 101, and then insults the entire scientific field by comparing it to a religion, bringing life to the xkcd cartoon at the top of this post.

Memo to climate contrarians - expertise comes from actually researching a subject. There is a reason why scientists who have researched climate change in the most depth are also the most likely to be convinced that global warming is human-caused.

Listening to Giaever's opinions on climate science is equivalent to giving your dentist a pamphlet on heart surgery and asking him to crack your chest open.

Also we can see why he is a Climate Change Denier - His Connection to the Tobacco Industry:

Chronology of Ivar Giaever's tobacco connections and climate denial

1964-1998 Council for Tobacco Research (CTR) - Distraction Research, Decoy Research, Filibuster Research

Robert Proctor's Golden Holocaust - Origins of the Cigarette Catastrophe… covers this in Chapter 16,1
Such research sounded good, sometimes was very good and even led to Nobels, but studied everything about cancer except connection with tobacco. Of course, Giaever's Nobel (superconducting) had nothing whatsoever to do with health, but his award was a useful marketing tactic.

Wow what credible Climate Change Sources you come out with the whole time.

The CLOUD experiment at CERN has shown that before the industrial revolution the atmosphere was much cloudier than scientists had previously thought (Image: Maximillien Brice/CERN)
Our planet’s pre-industrial climate may have been cloudier than presently thought, shows CERN’s CLOUD experiment in two papers published today in Nature (link is external).
CLOUD shows that organic vapours emitted by trees produce lots of aerosol particles in the atmosphere when there’s no sulphuric acid – a main product of burning fossil fuels.
Previously, it was thought that sulphuric acid was essential to initiate the formation of these aerosol particles but the new research shows that these so-called biogenic vapours are also key to their growth, and can help them grow up to sizes where they can seed clouds.
“These results are the most important so far by the CLOUD experiment at CERN,” said CLOUD spokesperson, Jasper Kirkby. “When the nucleation and growth of pure biogenic aerosol particles is included in climate models, it should sharpen our understanding of the impact of human activities on clouds and climate.”
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) considers that the increase in aerosols and clouds since pre-industrial times represents one of the largest sources of uncertainty in climate change. The CLOUD experiment is designed to better understand such processes.
CLOUD has also found (link is external)that ions from galactic cosmic rays strongly enhance the production rate of pure biogenic particles – by a factor 10-100 compared with particles without ions. This suggests that cosmic rays may have played a more important role in aerosol and cloud formation in pre-industrial times than in today’s polluted atmosphere.
