He was eventually given command of the Army of the Potomac but lost the battle of Chancellorsvile to General Stonewall Jackson. He resigned his command but later joined General Sherman at the Battle of Chattanooga and The March on Georgia. The signage should not be touched.

If you want to honour the man’s legacy then don’t leave up a sign that subjects his name to ridicule and dumb jokes. Leave up his statue but either take down the sign or maybe change it to “General Joseph Hooker Entrance”. Should be some sorta solution that would satisfy everyone.

The stuff that Anti Social Justice folks sound the alarums over! Good thing we got rid of Ontario's 'Ladies and Escorts Entrance' signs before people lost their rational powersand sense of humour.
