The Star has an updated story on that poll and it gets worse for the Liberals, with 65% of respondents saying they wouldn't consider voting for the Liberals.

https://www.thestar.com/news/queens...owards-majority-government-poll-suggests.html

Campaigns matter and a lot could change. But it's hard to see the Liberals getting re-elected if these numbers are anywhere close to accurate.

The Star is virtually an arm of the Liberal Party and works tactically for that party at all times, but especially during elections.

Releasing the "results" of that poll is intentional. It means three things:

1. That the Star is setting up its usual ding-dong with the Sun that those 2 papers always engage in in provincial elections in order to both sell more papers and make more $$$.

2. The Star's readership is left leaning and it wants to scare them into buying more newspapers.

3. It's been told by the party to overstate the Ford threat to get a bigger reaction from the liberal base, who might otherwise tune out the election.

Sorry to burst your bubble.

The Star may very well be trying to scare its base into voting Liberal. But that doesn't mean the poll results have been 'overstated'. Other polls are showing the same thing.

Éric Grenier at the CBC has been tracking the various polls and his numbers (released prior to the Star's poll) show the Liberals are in trouble.

Another update to the Ontario Poll Tracker (an aggregation of polls that is, again, coming soon!) puts the PCs at 43.4%, Liberals at 26.9%, NDP at 24.3% and Greens at 4.2%. Delivers 72-96 seats to the PCs, 18-31 for the NDP and 4-29 for the Liberals.

When it comes to the Canadian polling it's way too early and completely unreliable. Having said that, the last time a leader of a governing party had numbers as bad as Wynn, the voters reduced that party to two seats.

Although I will never vote for the Tories at any government level, Doug Ford is going to win this election, as much as it pains me to say it. Let's just hope he governs as a moderate and not as some Yank-Republican-wannabe.

That they are in trouble , that is no doubt. But they have been in trouble in the last 2 elections. Wynne has done a lot of very good things and a few fucks ups as well. She will certainly have an election budget with some BIG ideas that will resonate with the public. They will have a choice, vote for me or lose the goodies.

Wynne has done a lot of good things???
If you say so???

Sadly she did not manage the provinces finances which is a prerequisite to allow future governments to do good things
The provincial debt which she doubled, will likely be a barrier to meeting the increased demand for health care and preparing our youth for a very rapidly changing employment environment & this debt will likely be a barrier for the rest of your lifetime
Her management of the finances has been borderline criminal

Ok the debt was 252B when she became premier and it is now about 311B. So you say she doubled it, were you lying or ignorant of the facts?

Deficit spending does not mean mismanagement in itself . Harper also saw reasons to run a deficit when faced with an emergency. There are however incidents of fiscal mismanagement that have occurred under EVERY govt. The reason there are so many under the Libs is that they have been in power for a long time.

You really think Dougie has no cronies and favors to repay? Wow !!!

It was $150 B when the liberals took power.
The liberals have doubled the debt & the leader wears that.
I am not ignorant of the facts , you however seem to be quite selective with facts.

Did you prefer to blame Dalton the dummy instead?
too bad Wynne is the leader & she has to wear the LIBERAL financial record & it is abysmal

Deficit spending does not mean mismanagement in itself .
Nine years in a row does

Harper also saw reasons to run a deficit when faced with an emergency.
There is a time to run deficits. 2008/2009 was the time.
Mr. Harper dialed back the spending when the financial crisis subsided, The Ontario Liberals did not, still have not and today promised massive new spending in a desperate bid to buy votes
Enough of that

There are however incidents of fiscal mismanagement that have occurred under EVERY govt.
Nobody else has doubled the debt in their tenure.
The liberal mismanagement of the provinces finances is beyond incompetent.
They willfully ignored that responsibility

The reason there are so many under the Libs is that they have been in power for a long time.
Thanks for reminding everyone it is time for a change

You really think Dougie has no cronies and favors to repay? Wow !!!
Hopefully he will repay them by being financially responsible & respecting the taxpayer
That's all most business expect of govt

The other two choices will throw gasoline onto the burning debt problem

The liberals have doubled the debt & the leader wears that.
And Harper increased the debt at the same time federally.
Guess that means that conservatives also add to the debt, worse for Harper since he started with a record surplus.
