What do you mean by that? We will all find out whether
there is a God when we die? How do you know God would
reveal itself to each and every human being on earth once
they are no longer alive?

Hawking said: "Before we understand science, it is natural to believe that God created the universe. But now science offers a more convincing explanation."

Stephen Hawking makes it clear: There is no God
The physicist explains that science now offers more convincing explanations for existence. He is therefore an atheist.

If there is a God so what if you do not believe? God is going to punish you for not believing? Rubbish

If Hawking is right and there is no god. He will never know because after death there is nothing. Just eternal unconsciousness. In order to know something, you have to have consciousness.
If Hawking is wrong and there is a god He will know because he will wake up somewhere and be in the afterlife. If there is an afterlife. There is a god.

Most of all human beings in the known history of
civilization believe in some sort of a God. Only a very small
minority have been punished.

Science can't explain where matter comes from or where the first cell came from. Or what caused the big bang.

Science has no explanations for our exsistance. Science explains how things work. Not where they came from or why they exsist.

Hawking was a good scientist but he was a really bad philosopher. He made elementary errors in logic.

This may be true if the name of God is one of Jehovah or Jesus.
Not sure if Krishna would want to meet me in an afterlife.

What kind of logic is it that if there is a god there has to
be an afterlife? If I were God I certainly wouldn't stoop as
low as having to entertain my creations.

I personally believe that being the scientist that he was, he was probably excited to find out the truth about his believe.

There is a chance that he was right, like there is a chance he was wrong.

I personally believe in God, but he or she or them, have never spoken to me the in same way as people. Instead I feel the presence around me the same way i feel other things such as love or gravity. Extremely powerful forces that cant be quantify, but are very real.

There are a lot of unexplained phenomena that scientists can’t explain yet like the quantum mechanics and quantum nature of particles such as how knowledge collapses the wave function of subatomic particles and makes them act like particles because of the simple nature of observing them thus bringing matter to consciousness. There are many theories to explain this such as parallel universe concepts, simulation theory AKA the matrix and the list goes on and on. The fact is they can’t explain it yet, there is no one explanation for everything, meaning the existence of god has not been ruled out. But this goes back to your definition of what god really means to you. I believe science, the spiritual, and the consciousness are just as real and important in this existence as our perception of matter and conventional physics. IMO it’s simple God is Love and it’s all around us...many are just too blind to see it even though they feel it.

No doubt he contributed enormously to the advancements of human knowledge based on his achievements and too bad he had to suffer like that.

Hopefully his work continues to inspire and provide answers to some of the greatest mysteries we cannot yet explain.

RIP

God let nature take its course, humanity is only diving into the woodchipper at a much faster rate than dominant species before it.

Hawking will be deeply missed, his illness gave him a touch of Kurt Vonnegut.

Can we have a thread about his death, his life, what he gave the world? Instead of turning this into a debate about the existence of God?

RIP to a man who contributed a lot to the world we live in.

Thank you.

Stephen was a brilliant man, no doubt, whose body suffered slowly while his mind tried to maintain his genius over his mental illness. In the scientific community he will be sadly missed but the impact of his life and his many contributions will live on for generations to come.

To Stephen Hawkings ... an inspiration to many. I will raise a glass of fine whiskey to your life and toast to what's beyond.

Might as well shut this thread down now.

Non believers arguing with the religious about the existence of a god, is not going any place, nothing will be resolved between the two sides, a complete waste of bandwidth.

And as Jessica posted, unfortunate that religion had to be brought up.

RIP

He was a very interesting man, I was first introduced to his book " A brief History of Time" many years ago.

The world has lost a great individual.
