How many Terbites watch/read/follow InfoWars?

The poll question should read: “Sometimes I watch InfoWars because they report stories not covered in the Main Stream Media.”

(I hit the character limit in the poll question)

I have to admit that I’ve watched, but can’t take it on a regular basis. I always come away with the impression that Jones is mentally unstable and would be considered a total whack job, tinfoil hat nutcase in the pre-internet days - destined to be standing on a soapbox in a park or on a street corner ranting. But because of the ease of broadcasting, he has found a massive audience of like minded individuals.

He is an idiot. It doesn't even matter if he believes the shit he espouses or not. That he does is enough to make him a pox on real discourse.

I enjoy reading various "normal" conspiracy sites. They can be very interesting and provide data points for topics I'm researching. i.e. I was researching Monsanto and genetically modified foods and seeds a few months ago. Also, I don't always feel official explanations for some events are valid, so I try to keep an open mind by reading the alternative viewpoints.

But Infowars / Jones is pure trash. Infowars takes popular conspiracy topics and turns them into extreme stories, all in an effort to get advertising dollars and Youtube clicks.

He's an unstable conspiracy kook, but in a true democracy even conspiracy kooks should be allowed to speak freely.
Youtube is IMO wrong when they try to silence him

If many TERBites watch Infowars on occasion, what will you conclude? If hardly any TERBites watch, what will you conclude? If only a small number of TERBites even respond to your poll, what will you conclude?

What makes you think Youtube is trying to silence Infowars? They are not. Infowars success = revenue for Youtube. Key to this discussion is for you to understand why Infowars received his first two strikes.

You are wrong about anyone being able to speak freely in a democracy. You should re-read the 1st Amendment and review various laws in Canada and the US. Wiki sums it up nicely for the US: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_free_speech_exceptions

Infowars broke both the Youtube rules and the law. Those Youtube videos were removed as a result.

If you keep avoiding the question you can probably guess what I’ll conclude.

I've already answered your poll question in the 2 strikes thread, as you well know. So why dodge my questions?

If/When you need to know you will be told.
Wow, you went from wanting my answer to it's a big secret in a hurry! Ok, I'll just write your answers out for you, to save you the trouble:

1. If a majority say they don't watch InfoWars that means InfoWars is worthless.

2. If a majority say they watch InfoWars, the world is about to end.

3. If hardly anyone votes on this poll, but the majority say they don't watch InfoWars, I'll just ignore the meaningless sample size.

Pretty much captures it?

I can even tell you the results of your poll in advance. Most of the respondents will say they don't watch InfoWars, but the sample size will be small, because most of those who do occasionally watch won't answer your poll. They won't see a point in doing so.

I find Alex Jones to be an annoying loudmouth. Ive never been able to listen to him for more than a couple minutes.

Does he offend you? For what reasons should he be shut down?

The mainstream media is becoming more biased, especially since Trump's election, but they're still much better than entities like InfoWars. I can't see how anyone could watch InfoWars for more than 30 minutes and think they were getting a more balanced reporting than through mainstream media.

I don't think you could watch any media outlet for 30 minutes and think you're getting balanced reporting. Such an outlet doesn't exist. The question the OP is asking is whether it's EVER worthwhile to watch Infowars, presumably regardless of whether you agree with their take on a particular story, or not.

Which is what I answered. You can sift through the bias in mainstream media because it's relatively minor, so it is worthwhile to consume mainstream media. But InfoWars is so rife with bias and falsehoods that it is worthless, or even harmful, to consume.

+1. I have the same opinion about Breitbart - totally biased and fake content.

CNN and Fox are getting worse with time. Too biased IMHO, not enough world news and many of their commentators are becoming unwatchable. Still, both sources are pulling down good numbers so I guess the public likes their biased news sources.

I'm watching more network news these days mostly CFTO and BBC and sometimes ABC/CBS

I gotta admit that I’m surprised by the outcome of this poll. Despite the fact that only two members actually admitted to watching InfoWars I continue to be astounded by the volume of crazy, half-baked, Far Right bullshit that flies around here.

I would note that certain members are conspicuously absent from this thread. I have also concluded that some of these guys are liars who don’t wanna admit that they watch InfoWars (even in an anonymous poll) but yet watch it anyway like it’s their dirty little secret.

Nuff said. Everyone knows who you are.
