Vin Mac is bored since he relinquished control of running the WWE to Stephanie and HHH. Shane McMahon didn't want the job, he's diversified the company's holdings as a value investor. He's also an exceptional wrestler - or was. I haven't followed the WWE since Eddie Guerrero died.

He doesn’t even sound that confident that it will work. But he wanted to try it again a bit differently and probably waste another 100 million.

Creating a minor league in sports is
Very difficult.

this investment has nothing to do Wwe. The wwe board wanted nothing to do with it, so it’s all run by a separate company owned by Vince.

My guess is that there are some tax purposes for doing this venture.

Then again the US is football crazy. I've seen some high school stadiums that look amazing. So maybe he wants to tap into small markets.

I mean teams like the Hamilton Bulldogs have hung around for quite some time. I think the appetite for football in the US is similar to hockey up here.

Tax purposes sounds like a decent reason...although I have no idea how it would work to save him money. Didn't the XFL just absolutely tank the last time around?

Depends on his business set up.

I would assume it would be done similar to using capital losses in corporations here in Canada.

I know I have used similar tactics. Not starting or restarting a failing enterprise, but I have bought failing corps for the loss.

Depends on how you define tank
It's two biggest issues were share prices (not that XFL itself bled money, but that the existence of the XFL killed the WWE share prices resulting in huge losses) and the issue that many suspected the league was as fixed as a WWE PPV (resulting in atrocious viewer numbers and advertisers fleeing en masse)

The actual product itself was not that bad (but as we have seen from all the other leagues who try to make it, including CFL expansion, the Yankees don't really support it unless it is NFL)
