Muslim Convert Professor Goes On Bizarre Religious Rant In Class, Prompting Police Call
Alarmed students at a community college in Texas called the police on their professor when he entered his astronomy class clad in black with his face covered and began ranting about the Koran.
On Tuesday, adjunct professor and Muslim convert Daniel Mashburn walked into the class 20 minutes late and turned off the lights before beginning his strange lecture. Wearing a baseball hat, a beanie and a scarf to obscure his face, the teacher began a diatribe about Islam.
The students feared that he would resort to violence because he repeatedly put his hand in his right-hand pocket to fiddle with an object, prompting some students to leave and call campus police.
“The kid next to me had said he was acting very strange, and I looked over at the girl next to me and she seemed very scared,” said April McLeod in an interview with Fox News. “I was in class for about five minutes. He kept messing with his pocket and you could tell there was an object in the right-hand pocket. And whenever he went to pull out his hand, I started having this really bad feeling and jumped up and ran out of the classroom.”
The student says that at one point, Mashburn faced the whiteboard and just talked to it for a period of time.
When campus police arrived, they searched Mashburn, who refused to remove his face coverings. They found no weapons on the professor and let him go. The encounter was captured on film.
