Italian football has bottomed out. They haven't spent money on development, it's becoming a pauper state. There is no Baggio nor a Pirlo to lift them out of the fango. It's gotten so bad that they'll have to bring back Balotelli to the Azzurri - or else they won't qualify for the Euro either.

Roma had to contend with both the Barca players and the officiating. If a Roma defender had done what Pique did, he would have been red carded on the spot and a penalty given within seconds. It almost looked like the ref would allow Pique to get away with his arm twist, he was not keen to give the penalty. He issued the penalty reluctantly -I guess he wanted to get out of Rome alive.

The ref lost his resolve under pressure, the constant Real whining got to him. A more experience ref would have held firm.

Juve made a big mistake by loaning out Moise Keen to relegation bound Verona, they've ruined his confidence. I would have rather seen him in attack than Higuain, his pace would have given Real fits. He's already scored for Juve, just like M'Bappe and Cutrone, he was ready for prime time.

I wish Roma could have kept some of the players they sold, imagine how much better they'd be with Marquinos, Pjanic and Salah in the line up.

Real are the favorites. Bayern is too old and Roma too erratic, Liverpool has the best chance of ending their dynastic run. In a few years Eusebio Di Francesco will be among the best coaches in the world - if he's not already. In his five years at Sassuolo, they were always at least mid table and even got into the Europa League - different story this year without him.
