Is It Really Always Like This?

Noticed a thread (in the Toronto SC section) with this link to an article regarding how dancers "really feel about their clients".

    https://thoughtcatalog.com/lorenzo-j...their-clients/

As a poster notes, it's kind of "brutal".

Is it mostly like this from a dancer's point of view? Ouch.

everyone is different and some of the opinions on there contradict each other but it wouldn't be shocking if at least some of the ladies working there feel that way.

I try not to think about that and treat them with respect. I'm sure that at the very least is appreciated for some of them. Beyond that we're exchanging money and she may not enjoy her job but then again go to any industry and you will find people who don't like their jobs....

Its total BS. All fiction, made up by a small-minded male misogynist. Not worth its weight in salt.

The author basically just did a web search, found some negative quotations, and posted them, often out of context. The original sources are hyperlinked to the women’s names. For example, the very next words after Jacq’s quote (left out of this article) are: “So in a way it’s kind of liberating.” Changes the whole thing.

If you search AskReddit for stripper interviews, you’ll see the flip side... most of the posters there are generally positive about how they view clients and their job. And I think that’s pretty clear from some of the more experienced dancers in Ottawa. Someone like Bridgette doesn’t need the money really, she’s educated and has a good regular job; she must enjoy some aspect of it.

On the other hand, some people are more sensitive and I’m sure some clients can be traumatic for them. But I doubt this is the majority.

In a similar vein, here is a link to something I wrote a few years back that has gotten some criticism and a lot of positive response elsewhere. I figure this is a good place to share it.

It's a collection of information for the peeler bar patron. It might help to diminish some of that negativity.

Thanks a very good piece. I agree with 90% of it!
