What would compel somebody to do something like this and leave no explanation? They just had another grandchild, they were about to list their house (having purchased a larger house in Forest Hill) and would seem to have everything to live for.
Obviously something either caught up with them or they found something money could neither buy nor fix.
There'll be lot's of assumptions and angles on this off course.
R.I.P.

I thought it was murder suicide from the start. The fact the house was for sale, and new house was under her name tells me something was going. There were no signs of forced entry into the house either. Just seems like he couldn't handle an upcoming split.
There is a statement that came from the family through the Sherman's lawyer. Just copying an pasting it below...

Our parents shared an enthusiasm for life and commitment to their family and community totally inconsistent with the rumors regrettably circulated in the media as to the circumstances surrounding their deaths,” the statement said.

“We are shocked and think it’s irresponsible that police sources have reportedly advised the media of a theory which neither their family, their friends nor their colleagues believe to be true.

“We urge the Toronto Police Service to conduct a thorough, intensive and objective criminal investigation, and urge the media to refrain from further reporting as to the cause of these tragic deaths until the investigation is completed.”

That's just the family doing damage control.

So no estate planning would allow for a new house to be put in a wife’s name?
And it’s impossible for someone to gain entry into a house without signs of forcible entry?
Genius.

And some things are just what they appear to be.

So you are saying that the police are wrong to be probing it as a murder suicide? They have not considered your possibilities? Genius indeed.

Not to mention police aren't looking for any suspects but yet there's two bodies hanging in a house.

Listen Columbo,

I'm not saying there aren't possibilities. I'm simply suggesting based of the info that's currently out there, seems like a murder/suicide to me.

If I'm right, you gonna come back to this thread and re-tract your comment jackwad?

Dude killed his wife than himself. Money doesn't absolve people from doing horrible things. Infact, usually you probably had to do some horrible things to have that money. It it what it looks like.

My opinion (in reading that story) is that while he was brilliant and an over achiever, he was also a narcissist and a Class A control freak.
You have pretty good instincts... I had some interaction with him in a business transaction some years ago, and that is exactly what he was like. Even then, there were tons of rumours about him being involved with all kinds of things that went beyond normal business strategies for a pharma company.

That being said, I wouldn’t want to be the police here. It may look like a murder-suicide, and that seems entirely possible to me, but it could be some kind of Russian/South American/who knows organized crime payback made to look like a murder-suicide.

Ligature neck compression means? That they dies during hanging? Strangled? Does it mean crime that they didn't do?

Ligature strangulation:

Ligature strangulation is a type of strangulation that occurs with the use of a mass that is not the body weight. In other words, ligature strangulation does not require suspension of the physical body. Instead, it requires the use of a cord-like object, such as a rope.

It is an unusual method of suicide, which is nearly always compared (or confused) with hanging, the latter of which is a type of strangulation that**does**require suspension of the physical body. Part of the confusion with hanging is that it is possible for strangling to occur during the hanging: this is when the neck is not broken during the process of hanging. In roughly 99% of the cases with hanging, the neck does not break (because the drop was not deep enough to bring about the breaking of the neck), resulting in strangling to death instead. Hanging is frequently described as being more painful than ligature strangulation.

What does it look like from your deep inside analysis of the situation?
