As expected Gordon and Gino had their issues. Gino got pissed when Gordon allowed his oysters to die, so while the miserable prick Scotsman was still sleeping, Gino farted in his face...revenge is a dish best served smelly.

When Gino's right, he's right. Too many English types fuck up this cold winter's day recipe.

Finally got around to viewing Netflix's Salt Fat Acid Heat and it's time well wasted!
IMHO Samin Nosrat’s enthusiasm is refreshing in this mash-up of cooking theory and travel cinematography.

Watched the first episode and agree that it is excellent! It's almost "Bourdain-like" in the way it combines travel and food with a host who clearly loves and knows food and communicates this with a lot of credibility. I think "Sweet" should have an episode too, but I get that adding that would have destroyed the flow and rhythm of the title (which is based upon the host's cookbook). Good recommendation!

My pleasure....
Speaking of Bourdain and Ramsay ( circa 2002~ish; A Cook's Tour Series S01E22) :

Ordered a Vitamix on Black Friday. My kids are both into healthy eating (I blame their mother) and have been suggesting this to make smoothies, etc. Hope it lives up to the hype...

I hardly ever make meatballs to go with a red marinara sauce, I prefer stewing meat. Short ribs are the best, I prefer meat on the bone for depth of flavour. Then I let it simmer over several hours.

But then I've almost stopped making marinara meat sauce. These days for quick pasta it agli olio with a couple of anchovy fillets melted in and capers.

I have recently been making a light rye bread with sun dried tomatoes and black olives.

I think I'm going to try making pretzels this weekend.

I love love love soft pretzels. Warm dipped in a nice grainy mustard. Or beer cheese.

A Babe in Scotland. Oban produces one of the finest single malts you'll ever have the pleasure to sip.

I'm not a scotch fan per se but I agree with you on Oban. Best one I've ever had.
