Pretty much every industry has these issues and the only ones that will get away with it will be some members of the republican party. Apparently its ok to sexually assault woman and molest little girls if your a god fearing, bible thumping, red neck. Or if your the president of the US.

Why do you say that I like Bobby
Douchieness level: Instagramming stacks of cash

For the four years that Throwdown! with Bobby Flay was on TV, the world got 30 minutes a week of Flay being smug with a knife in hand. The premise of the show was trickery. The rundown of every episode: get a lesser-known chef all hype that they'll be on the Food Network for a special program, host a party with their family and friends, and then have Flay and his smirk crash said party and challenge the unsuspecting chef to a cook-off of a dish they've mastered cooking. Flay and his smirk always won. But before Flay was one-upping small-time chefs, he was offending entire cultures. Flay appeared in an Iron Chef Japan episode where he jumped and fist pumped on his cutting board after winning the challenge. Celebrating a victory is fine, but the cutting board is considered sacred to Japanese chefs, and was consider a major cultural faux-pas. Do better, Flay. Do better.

Fast forward to 3:30 to see the douchebag in action.

Apparently, he was caught performing an unnatural act on a cannoli.
this cannoli lead to the sweet spot
More like he tried to slip someone his cannoli..."Hey, let me show you why they call me IRON chef"...

I never liked him so whatever. Shameful behavior from the lot.

LOL I love Anthony Bourdain. He's crazy hot.
I just made the comment in another thread that the person has spent years honing his/her craft (the other thread was a pianist). Their looks don't matter so why even bring it up? Women don't like it (and man it happens all the time and in the newspaper) so why should it be any different if the person is a man?

:confused: I have no clue what you're talking about or what thread you are talking about. I just said that Anthony Bourdain is crazy hot. I'd do him in a heartbeat. So now with all this sexual misconduct stuff that's going on, I'm not allowed to say that I think someone is hot? Sorry if I offended you.

EDIT. I found the thread that you were referring to. I had not read it. We understand that these people are very talented but I think we still have the right to say that they are attractive. I'm sure that Anthony Bourdain doesn't mind if women think he's attractive. And, as a foodie, I also have great respect for his talents. An attractive and intelligent man who can cook? Beautiful. Chef Michael Smith too! I don't know why it bothers you.

So let me be the first to ask the obvious question - who cares what she looks like? Why does that even enter into the conversation? I don't think she put in years and years of practice so someone could judge her on her looks. Respect her ability to play and leave everything else that's superficial out of the conversation.

You're not the only one Miss Croft. My wife would do him in a heartbeat too! Physically he's really stepped up his training regimen. He's 60+ and rockin' a six pack!

Am I offended by the actual comment? No. It really makes no difference and in a private conversation, no problem. However, in this day and age, would you agree that it probably isn't something we should be doing, even though we can? Tons of women in industry, in office, or in other positions where they should be judged on their conduct, intelligence, performance, etc.

If a person is a model or in advertisements or on-screen, clearly their looks are part of the equation because that's what they are selling. But for these professional shows, they aren't selling the host's look, they are selling his/her skills/opinions.

The only reason I made the comment is to be fair - I made the comment elsewhere about the pianist, a female, saying her looks shouldn't be part of the conversation, appreciate the music. Same should go for a guy.

And trust me, I get the irony that this is being said on Terb...lol

I understand your view and don't want to argue. I just said he was hot. Didn't think it would cause a kerfuffle.

As soon as I read semple's reply, I though to myself, I have no idea what you're talking about. Then I read your reply. lol

Of course you're allowed to say he's hot. What's not to like about the guy. He's attractive, fit, witty and an excellent writer/storyteller. I love No Reservations and Parts Unknown. We had dinner in NYC last year. We were chatting with the couple next to us at the sushi bar. Turned out they were good friends with Tony. They had nothing but great things to say about him. They said he's exactly the same person, both on and off the screen.

While times are really heated regarding sexual harassment, etc right now, I think on a board like this where we have ratings on news crew women, etc, saying a chef is hot - is acceptable for THIS community.

Just like saying, to your buddies, at home, outside of work - that a co-worker is hot - also acceptable.

It is all about time and place. That is what rational people have been saying this whole time. It is not appropriate to talk sexually about your co-worker by the water cooler while she is walking by. It is not rocket science.

THIS is a place and time where you can say it. Debating that fact - HERE - is completely ridiculous in my humble opinion and does nothing more than stir a pot for nothing.

You did nothing wrong.

It should be noted that in the other thread (all 6 responses) NOBODY mentioned looks except for Sempel. He brought it up himself as a pre-emptive manufactured issue. So his faux outrage on this and the other thread is kind of like the forum equivalent of masturbating in public in front of a mirror.

There is no double standard, especially on TERB. People comment on looks with absolutely no bias for either sex.

so are you saying you don't like Batali, but you think he's hot, or do you think he's hot but you don't like Batali?
