Weight class
Featherweight Max Holloway (c) vs. José Aldo
[a]
Heavyweight Alistair Overeem vs. Francis Ngannou

Flyweight Henry Cejudo vs. Sergio Pettis

Lightweight Eddie Alvarez vs. Justin Gaethje

Women's Strawweight Tecia Torres vs. Michelle Waterson

Preliminary Card (Fox Sports 1)

Lightweight Charles Oliveira vs. Paul Felder
Welterweight Alex Oliveira vs. Yancy Medeiros
Lightweight David Teymur vs. Drakkar Klose
Women's Strawweight Felice Herrig vs. Cortney Casey

I like the potential of this card... depending on which Alvarez shows up vs Garthje could be fight of the night

Francis Ngannou is one scary dude

Charles Oliveira vs Paul Felder should be a exciting fight

Felice Herrig sigh

if you have not seen what a basic brawler looks like Justin Gaethje is that guy...same striking coach as rose namajunas

Should be some good fights, I'm heading out to Detroit this afternoon to check it out.

I think that Justin will beat Eddie ... this is a brawler match. Max over Jose. Francis over Alastair.

Alistair was throwing haymakers like in a drunken brawl and thats what got him. When you are fighting against a guy who is heavier then you and known for his knock out power its pretty obvious not to throw those haymakers. When I was learning how to box back in the day those were simple things that they would tell you. I am suprised that Alistair got to this level and made such a huge mistake. Now his jaw will probably never be the same. And he got him with his left. I am glad Francis didnt get him with his right because Alistair would have to be going straight for a brain surgery. Hope Alistair recovers and doesnt end up like Muhhamad Ali.

Holy cow those were some great fights.

Max Holloway vs. José Aldo - Does Max even get hurt? His style is like Nick Diaz, and I swear guys like Holloway and Ferguson can fight all night long. True domination fight.

Alistair Overeem vs. Francis Ngannou - Oh Damnnnn! How did Alister's head even stay attached? Expect a meme to come from this fight, with Overeem's head being taken off.

Eddie Alvarez vs. Justin Gaethje - I don't know why, but wanted Gaethje to win so bad. But never seen Alvarez look better. Eddie with the insane pressure, slipping punches, and landing so many huge body shots. I'm shocked all the kicks from Justin didn't have a better effect, and have Alvarez limping after the first.
I didn't think Alvarez would beat Gaethje, this was a different Eddie. His boxing was so crisp and his head movement was on point. Where was this Eddie when he fought Poirier and McGregor?

Aldo seems to not be in great shape at featherweight anymore, if he wants to continue to fight he needs to move up. He needed two attempts to make weight on the scales, he's outgrown featherweight.

I knew Ngannou would beat Overeem but I thought Overeem would he more technical in his striking approach. He should have thrown more leg kicks instead of brawling with a heavy hitter like that.

Anyone else notice Angela Magana's wardrobe malfunction? Lol @ Amanda Cooper roasting her.

Nice card to go to VBB, enjoy have a good time
Thanks and I did, glad we didn't get up early to watch the Pontiac Superdome implode failure.

I'm surprised no one made mention of the other Hawaii vs Brazil match ... the Brazilian cowboy got beat and that was one match that had people cheering.

Aldo just wasn't in it you could tell during the first round that the weight cut took its toll, time to move up or retire.

Overeem was just too cocky and didn't respect the power, wanted to finish by ko but got his own medicine, big throws just leave bigger openings for your opponent.

Eddie had more heart, this was the Eddie from years ago that showed up... who wanted it more?

Lots of good fights from start to finish.

Maybe we need ONE thread for all the MMA stuff.. except polls.

GSP vacated the middleweight title due to colitis. That's noble of him so he doesn't hold up the division unlike what the current lightweight champ is doing.

It's too bad, I wanted to see him unify the belts and then go back to welterweight if that's what he chose to do.

Brian Ortega has dangerous GRACIE BBJ. He's always been my a sleeper, when he submitted Brandao I knew something was special about him. Cub Swanson is no easy outing, he was even outstriking Ortega. The beauty of his skill, he doesn't need to take anyone down to clamp on a submission.

I think its for the best. GSP was slower and fading against Bisping. I don't think he could have maintained the belt in that division, and feel Whittaker would have taken it anyway.
At welter, I think Woodley is no match, and he can still dominate that division if he wanted to stay in the sport. Woodley lost to Rory MacDonald, and its that same style (only much better) that I feel GSP would win.

Now the idea of Robert Whittaker vs. Luke Rockhold is exciting, and would like to see Whittaker the undisputed champ. I don't know what it is about Luke, but have always disliked him.

Woodley I can't see making the jump to middle and doing well, if no other reason, its the reach disadvantage. Huge guys in middleweight.
I like Tyrone, and think he should just stay and reign in welter.
I think Woodley can beat GSP at this point in his career, he's too big and strong at welterweight for anyone right now. He's.a different fighter than when he faced Rory.

Luke comes across as a huge douche, he looks like an asshole jock too. But I do like too see him fight, he's a huge middleweight.

Good point about Woodley. He has improved greatly, and certainly put end to Stephen Thompson path of wins. I thought Wonderboy would be holding the belt a long time the way he went through guys.
But Woodley put an end to that dream. So would be interesting to see how he and GSP would shape up.
I don't like how Dana White is treating GSP right now, the man has colitis and he's bashing him for not defending the belt.

I'd like to see Woodley vs GSP but Connor is the money fight.
