Two Islamist men barged into the Carmelite Verdun monastery late last week during evening prayers in which they told the nuns to convert to Islam or go to hell.
The two men were described as being in their thirties and both sporting beards and are said to have prayed in Arabic while the nuns were conducting their evening prayers. The pair also signed the guestbook of the monastery writing “Allah u Ackbar” though there were no reports of any violence taking place.

Bishop of Verdun Jean-Paul Gabriel Émile Gusching said commented on the matter saying, “they prayed in Arabic during Vespers,” and added, “They presented themselves as harbingers and told them: if you do not convert, you will go to hell.’

On Sunday both men were arrested and later brought before Verdun prosecutor Guillaume Dupont who said, “They will be summoned to the verdict court of Verdun to be tried at a hearing on April 28, 2018, at 8:45 am for aggravated voluntary violence.”
Dupont said that the charge is related to psychological violence and if convicted the pair could see a 45,000 euro fine and the possibility of three years in prison.
Abdelkrim Aïtelkaid, Imam of Verdun, said that one of the men was a recent convert to Islam having only become a Muslim three or four months prior. He condemned the actions of the pair saying, “It is not normal. We are not going to violate the sacredness of a place of worship.”

The authorities were particularly diligent regarding the incident due to the fact that last year a priest in Normandy was killed by radical Islamic terrorists who barged into an early morning mass. The Islamists initially took Father Jacques Hamel hostage but later decided to slit his throat after delivering a sermon in Arabic from the pulpit of the church.
Islamisation has become an increasingly prominent topic in France with some Muslims, like those in Clichy, choosing to pray in the street to protest the government closing an illegally occupied building that they had used as a mosque.
Last week over a hundred French conservative politicians interrupted the street prayers by singing the French national anthem and getting into minor physical confrontations with the Muslim worshippers.

I thought you claimed you only cut and pasted stuff about Islamic terrorists. Like your Ahmadi poppy sellers these two guys don't appear to have done anything violent (beyond the psychological)

On the other hand the hundred or more conservative French pols who deliberately disrupted Muslim prayers seemed to have no aversion to violence.

Can't help it if you think wrong.....but I'm sure you'll find most Canadians are against Poppy sellers being harassed or people walking into a Monastery and harassing nuns. It maybe ok for you, but its not ok with me.

And I'm sure most would be against a mob (over a hundred strong) interrupting and roughing up peaceful people at their prayers. But you don't seem to think that worth mentioning, because you're trying to make a big deal out of a pair of trespassers in a nunnery, and a disagreement about the appropriateness of a particular group selling poppies.

You may think it's ok to ignore mob rule and right-wing violence in the streets because you want to pick on isolated Muslims, but it's not ok with me.

You're ill informed again Grasshoppah...there is a video about that story. The French citizens in question being tired of Muslims blocking streets for their prayers, sung La Marsellaise. (La Marsellaise is the French National anthem in case you don't know)

I fully support them, nobody was roughed up like you say...there was no mob rule or violence...the Muslim continued to pray and the French sung La Marsellaise... you should stop making up bullshit stories to score a point.

Fascinating I'm sure. But it was your own pasty-piece that said there was violence, and that's what I went by. Did you not read your own post? Even when I highlighted it? If you want to correct that misinformation I'm sure you can cut and paste some source telling what really happened a tad more authoritative than just your say so.

After all, you're a guy who judges a pair of guys trespassing in a French nunnery, more important for TERBians to be informed of than what you call repeated mass street blocking and rioting — or perhaps a spontaneous patriotic choral concert — in Paris. So as a reporter, your sense of proportion is somewhat suspect.

I'd be happy to exchange opinions with you, but please make up your mind: Either you're a cut and paste guy who lets the pieces stand on their merits as you have until now, or you offer your opinions and we add them to the discussion.

The post was about the Nuns being threatened, in your effort to try to minimize it, you chose to go fish the part where 100 people showed up singing the marseilieze at a Muslim illegal street prayer.

You didn't bother to look up what happened and on your own you decided that this was "Mob Rule" which is something you made up as its not in the article trying to boost your bullshit comeback. Reality is that The Mayor and a bunch of politicians in suits showed up and sang. There were very minor scuffles, no Mob Rule... they were marching and sang the national anthem.

LOL You just reinforced my thread... they tried to bully the Nuns (were arrested) and the Poppy sellers and now these asses tried to force themselves on the streets.

No doubt I support the French that went out of their way to interrupt Muslim street prayers that were banned in 2011, it disrupts people lives... its uncalled for and the French don't need to be bullied.
