Absolutely they were. When a similar incident happened after Forcillo was convicted, the cops waited the guy out and no one was injured. My heart really breaks for the parents of Yatim. They are really broken people. Not only were there other options, there was NO REASONABLE REASON to shoot, unless you are an idiotic coward

In his testimony all he talked about was making it home safe to his family. So in that situation, when you are facing a young, not very tough looking guy like Yatim, with a tiny knife, a long distance away and you are surrounded by your armed comrades, wearing body armor, carrying a glock 9mm with 15 rounds, if you feel afraid then I am sorry, you are a YELLOW BELLIED COWARD.

He certainly did and was convicted of attempted murder. He failed to follow his training to use lethal force only as a last resort, instead shooting Yatim six times as he lay injured and dying on the floor of the streetcar. You know cops carry pepper spray, right?
He was acquitted on the first three shots. If he'd stopped there, he'd be back on the streets now, with his gun.

The thing the police learned from the Forcillo is that they have a note from the court that it's ok to shoot people for failing to obey a police order -- just limit yourself to three shots.

Firstly, lethal force isn't taught to be used as a last resort, it's taught to be considered in the appropriate context. Seondly, pepper spray is not the appropriate response to an edged weapon.

Remember, it wasn't the first volley of shots that got him in trouble.

Of course it was, the second round only gave the Jury a higher charge they could have convicted on. Even if he did not fire the second volley he would have been probably convicted of a lesser offense.

Take that asshole! Hahaha!!!

Bail revoked for Const. James Forcillo, will start serving six-year sentence.

Const. James Forcillo will go to prison and wait for an appeal hearing after his bail was revoked Nov. 29.

Forcillo will remain in custody while a charge of breaching his bail is dealt with in court. He will then begin serving his prison sentence.

The Toronto police officer was convicted of attempted murder in 2016, in the 2013 shooting death of Sammy Yatim.

Forcillo has been in police custody since Nov. 15, when he allegedly violated his bail conditions, which said he was required to stay with his now ex-wife and their two children in his Vaughan home.

Forcillo’s ex-wife, Irina Ratushnyak, and her parents each signed a surety in the combined amount of $510,000, money pledged to the court if Forcillo breached his bail conditions or failed to show up in court.

This week, they declined to remain his sureties, CTV reported.

Forcillo was arrested after he was found at the apartment of his fiancée, Sara Balderrama.

The officer said he planned to move into the apartment with Balderrama, and filed an application earlier in November to have his address changed and add her as his surety.

Guy has his name on the buzzer and claimed he did not live there. ex wife and parents said no way to bail and not sure if new GF has the $$. I wonder if the ex-wife ratted him out 'cos she was concerned with losing hers and her parents $500K. ?

Well finally a little bit of justice for Sammy. Probably the best Christmas present Yatim's family could get! Hope the cowardly fuk gets a good old fashioned beat down when he gets to the big house...fingers crossed

I don't know why anybody in the media is still calling this guy a police CONSTABLE. He is a CONVICTED CRIMINAL who is currently serving 6 years behind bars for attempted murder. Last I ever heard any PERSON who has a criminal record CANNOT be a police officer. He will NEVER work as a cop ever again.

isn't the bail surety confiscated upon breach of bail, meaning the $$ and house that was put up for bail, would the people who put up the surety not loose their $$ and house
