For two seasons Jackie Robinson had to be a diplomat in the face of relentless abuse. At the start of the 49 Season, he was given the go to just play the game. In the first game against the St Louis Cardinals a dugout clearing brawl broke out. Jackie hit a grounder then elbowed the first baseman in the face. Jackie Robinson was younger than Gordon Downie when he died from a heart attack brought on by complications from diabetes. The stress of breaking the colour barrier caught up with him.

By 1972, Hank Aaron was planning to retire. The fate of 42, drove him to break the home run record. It was a bad year for baseball Roberto Clemente did in a plane crash before the year was done.

Does he belong in the HOF? Absolutely he does!

Bonds was HOF worthy before he took steroids. I'm torn whether that should keep him or anyone else out. Before steroids there were "greenies" and other things and those guys got in. Steroids won't make you a great hitter but made great hitters better.
