Stephanie McKellop, a Ph.D. student studying marriage and family (using them, they pronouns), has since set their tweets to private
They shared that they were trying to encourage classroom participation by minority students
'I will always call on my Black women students first. Other POC get second tier priority. [White Women] come next. And, if I have to, white men,' they said
In subsequent post, McKellop explains that the tactic - called progressive stacking - was one learned from a professor in undergrad
A lot of people on social media have labeled the teacher - a white person - racist for the sentiments
But the student has also received numerous calls of support from fellow students, faculty and others on social media
McKellop alleged that the university was preventing them from attending lecture but the school released a statement refuting the claim

Another example of left wing extremist racism. This one clearly has the white saviour syndrome. There seems to be a lot of this being exposed especially from these nut job university professors lately. A recent survey said that left wing nut job university professors outnumber conservative University professors by 28-1 now. There needs to be a purge of these left wing racist professors to add some more balance to the curriculum.

She tried to justify her blatant racism and sexism by calling those to critisized her methods as Nazis lol. What a wack job.

Seems like there is no other way to combat right wing extremism that is rampant throughout the world. Fight their moronic ideology with the same stupidity that they dish out. Or is it okay for conservative extremists to make "white right" but nothing else?

No, just fire her.

It's really that simple.
An attractive option. But then she probably got her appointment because she has friends and protectors among the other faculty who sympathize with her attitudes, even if she is a little more extreme than they are. And no doubt, you would get the inevitable "martyrdom" articles in the student press and the faction of students who identify with her ideas would protest.

That was my thought. It is interesting how upset people get when people with different views mirror their behaviour. I doubt that's what the woman in the OP intended though.

In this case though, I can see the benefit of her method during a lesson on equity but doing it as a long term practice is counterproductive and demeaning.

Maybe it's simple for her. But how do you propose to purge of all the tenured Professors whose views offend?
By not paying them any more.

Eventually they will take the hint.

Imagine the outrage if a professor said she wasn't going to take replies from black students.

stop attending universities that sheltered them. less students means less revenues

That's the same as firing them.

Where does it say she is "far left" and would you give other examples of "left wing extremist racism?"

I agree that she is racist and a fem-Nazi but I don't see any references to her being left wing. People who are far right have been known to favor one racial group over the other, including one who led National Socialist German Workers' Party.

What she is doing (progressive stacking) has been around since the 1990s and other professors have admitted using it as a way to get (usually female members of minority groups) to participate more in class. They just haven't talked about it publicly.

I'm not at all condoning this and I think it's completely wrong. But don't label her as "far left." Better to call her an attention seeker who is enjoying the notoriety she's achieved.

Fight perceived racism with actual racism. Well done teacher!

People should always be treated as individuals and given equal opportunity. It's their responsibility to make use of that opportunity.

Why yes it is. Which was my original post.

Simply fire her.

I've been around long enough to see lots of people get fired for no reason. Easily done.
Yes - you can fire pretty much anybody. In most States the concept of "At Will" employment exists so no notice is necessary. In Canada you would need to offer notice unless it was for cause.

Of course, the academic world is different. And as I said earlier - it's relatively easy to fire her, she's just a lowly TA - but it wouldn't work for tenured professors unless they clearly violated a policy or law. Academic freedom would likely protect them in this case.

As a centrist ten years ago, I didn't have much to criticize about the left and right. Now I gotta call out both every other day it seems. The left and right have become the far left and far right to such extremes that I don't recognize them anymore.

Sure, but the Far Right is just a reaction to the Far Left which completely runs the show and has been becoming increasingly radical.

Did anybody watch Transformers as a kid in the 80s?
