It's good to get out of town after a 1-6 homestand. Hopefully, they will finish the month on better record than 1-6. Feel bad for the Jays and Osuna. If Osuna was there last night,he might not blown the save.
Estrada 4 earnies in 4.1 innings. Deck McGuire got lit up. Almost no hitting........

Pretty close to renaming this thread Good Riddance 2018...

Another year where to many "if" factors have bounced the wrong way instead of the right way. Devon Travis despite being healthy, has not produced the way he did in the past. A healthy Aaron Sanchez hasn't been the pitcher he was before the blister problem. Marco Estrada is never going to be the pitcher he was in 2015. The hope that Tulo might be back for the beginning of the year and have something left in the tank. The hope that Kendry Morales might actually do something. Justin Smoak being Justin Smoak again. Include some of the non 'if" factors like Josh Donaldson nowhere close to an MVP anymore, Osuna not being around, all of a sudden the dynamic of your team totally changes.

If they can get anything for JD, Martin, Morales or Tulo, they will be looking to unload those guys.

Reid-Foley got promoted from AA to AAA. In his first AAA start today he got shelled. Be careful!!
Little Vlad has to make the jump sometime and a .400 plus batting average means that he is no longer being challenged or learning at AA.

For all of you that say the manager does not throw, catch, hit or run...

This team does not have their heads screwed on right!

Cito where are you?

Little Vlad....
There are a lot of ways to describe Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Little is about the last thing to come to mind.

Keep thinking what you want to think, Perry.

The level of talent that he has had to work with since shapeero came in has gotten worse each year. It seems that when he had talent and the players were playing to their potential he knew how to properly screw in heads and they made the playoffs, but now that the talent is shit, he has forgotten how to keep the players motivated.

BTW, how does one objectively determine whether the players are playing poorly due to lack of talent or because the manager has them messed up? If you think their talent level is playoff quality, please repost where you were enthusiastic about shapeero's acquisitions in the off-season. Otherwise, he has proved that he knows how to manage, given the tools with which to work.

I am so glad I have your permission... what would I do without you? :yo:

Perry
It wasn't so much that I gave permission, just that there's nothing I can do about your POV.

Serious question, though. How does one tell whether the players are performing poorly because their heads are not screwed on right or because they are just not very good players?

All the guys from the playoff years are 3 years older and not one of shapeero's acquisitions (from what I recall) has proven themselves in the majors as a significant talent (Morales is a downgrade from EE). They were all just guys that we were able to get for cheap.

p.s. Curtis Granderson has had a good career but he is very much on the downside of his career. As well, the Jays have the oldest roster in the majors.

Kendrys Morales is having a dreadful season (W.A.R. of -0.9).
Edwin Encarnacion is below replacement level (W.A.R. of -0.2).

With hindsight, the better move would have been to sign neither player.

Sometimes, the best moves are the ones that you don't make.
