But he had a nagging injury all year, plus he didnt pass his physical when they wanted to resign him.
He might just have 1 or 2 good years left in him still
I guess I don't like shapeero's approach of only picking up players that he can get on the cheap due to poor years or injuries, hoping they will rebound play up to their maximum potential. That is the only way this team will make the playoffs even though he promised that the Jays are "going for it" this year.
Unless they're waiting for the Vlad Jr and Bichette Jr to hit the bigs and make them contenders again.

That is obviously what they are waiting for, their messiahs. And that is assuming they become what they are projected to be, which is a big "if". But if that is all they have on the farm, what are they going to do to surround them with other championship caliber players. The pitching staff is aging and they have a bunch of cheap retreads everywhere else. Is shapeero going to uncharacteristically make several big signings or risky trades to bring in bona fide stars? Waiting to see how all this unfolds because they are farther from being a legit qualifier now than when shapeero inherited them.
Shack: are you suggesting the Blue Jays will suck this year? You don't believe Granderson, Grichuk, Oh, Garcia, will make this team a contender. Just wait until Troy heals, this team will be AW..........! You fill in the blank!
They will finish 3rd or 4th, as they did last year. The rotation is quite good - barring injuries. But the batting order doesn't compare with what the Yankees put on the field, or even what the O's or Bosox deploy.
I am thinking that by med-season we will be reminiscing about the good old days back in 2017.
If every field player has a career year, and if the starting staff stays healthy........MAYBE........we have shot at a WC.

Funny you should ask. I have already made a bet with another esteemed member of the board. Don't want to divulge the details other than it is a $50 bet going to charity. I lost last year.
BTW, I am usually accused of being too much of a homer/optimist regarding the Jays. It is this GM that has changed my attitude.
No doubt, I could be wrong, but prior to last year his career BA was .232 so I am not convinced that all of a sudden he is George Brett.
